Before reading and perhaps giving an answer, I will add this line to any post I make from now on, and it is the following, do not comment about my profile or anything related to it, because I will not only ignore but also perhaps block whoever does so, try to discuss only the subject of the topic, thank you very much for understanding.

If you want to know the reason, look for my reply #90 and above (#90 #91 #92 and so on... in this link from another post: https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=2224217&show=90

I stopped reading the manga around chapter 69 and now I'm just watching the anime, I saw a lot of people say that the manga currently or after a certain point starts to get boring and repetitive, I even saw someone say that they stopped reading for reasons like these and that they liked how the manga was in the beginning.

Is this true or are most of these people Dandadan haters?

some people do hate it sadly even though I can't fully understand why I'll tell as far as I know

people do hate it cause it's postponing the happiest part of it (the confession) and its just really sad to see, we get close then immediately it gets ripped away.

there might also be the fact that the main cast is getting bigger and bigger (about 7-10 now?) and is getting more annoying to keep track of.

that's all I really know on the subject, I still love the manga and anime especially the hayashii performance in the anime

It’s definitely gearing towards something but after the galactic assault war it’s kind of just fizzled back into monotony. I liked the Danmara Arc but the ones after it were really meh. Seems to be heating up again tho.

I would not say that they are haters because from their point of view compared to the start the concept becomes repetitive that is a ghost attacks, his emotional backstory and then someone adds in the team, slowly but surely it is moving towards a new type of concept but it certainly is not as good as how the concept feels fresh and good at the start.

Also the reason can be because of the pacing of the chapters, one chapter covers very less important and relevant to the story part, like the chapter I read about Seiko discussing something (not giving spoilers) I would say in that whole chapter the whole blabbering they do was completely unrequired and could have been covered in one or two pages.

I genuinely can't tell where repetitive would come from. I can probably see why some people could be bored if they read weekly and expect a fight every chapter or something.

long running stories tend to be repetitive or formulaic anyway like how one piece is being criticize as repetitive too same with demon slayer and that is only 200 chapters long

but yes dandadan has a repetitive formula of > new character introduction > new threat > fight the threat > sad backstories > win > new character joins the main crew > repeat

This is just part of following a long running series. There'll always be one or two arc that feels like a drag. Or story patterns that gets repeated and becomes stale after a while.

Lots of characters added to the story. And if you don't like or care about them, it gets boring and repetitive. The manga lacks a recurring villain. It feels like chasing the tail of a lizard. Cut one off and it'll regrow. So yes, it does get boring. But the recent chapters felt like it's taking a new direction.

while I can see why some people would call it repetitive, I would still disagree. as people have pointed out in almost every arc they find something odd -> find a new threat and defeat it -> gain a new comrad on the way.

But like? that's every shonen? and something that Dandadan does that I definitely can't say about most shonen is that every arc serves a purpose for the plot or to explore some part of the characters. I can't think of a single arc that can be cut out of the story without it being impacted badly.

Wait, what exactly did you hear? 👀 If it’s about how Dandadan goes completely wild with aliens, ghosts, and total chaos… yeah, that’s 100% true 😂 It’s like every chapter tries to out-crazy the last, but somehow it all works. If you’re into insane energy and zero chill, you’re in for a ride.

Ah I see you may have seen my review.
I just need it to take itself seriously a little. I don't care about new character number 47 who has a sad backstory. I need development on the main cast and plot progression. So that once the story starts wrapping up, we have proper closure. There is no stable plot in Dandadan, which isn't terrible, but definitely isn't good.

DDD could literally become the next series that runs as long as One Piece if they wanted, especially if people keep glazing it. I'm not a hater, I just want it to do better. Anime watchers and manga readers deserve more.

I’m really enjoying the manga, but want more slice of life stuff, especially more Momo and Okarun (bonus points for more Miko and Muko).

Each arc is pretty different, it’s not at all the same nor does it have a repetitive plot for an arc. I’d say it’s even more creative and crazier.

@deg It's not so much about falsifying the statistics on my list, but rather about the Internet being more than a social space, it can also be your private space, where you can do whatever you want for entertainment as long as it's not a crime. Therefore, if I make my list fake, the problem is mine and I'm the one who chooses what to do with the time I have, so honestly, I don't care what people think about my profile and my list, because if I make a topic about "Pokemon" for example, I will soon want people to talk about the specific Anime "Pokemon" instead of making comments insulting my profile and saying things they themselves don't know.

@thischeetobussin I also think so, even though I'm not up to date with the latest chapters, Science Saru, the studio that produced the anime, makes very good use of the author's creativity to make that animation.

I think part of the problem is that Dandadan doesn't really have a certain goal yet like becoming hokage/pirate King of collect sukunas fingers.
You have the thing with the balls but thats Not the case anymore
This can make some things feel a bit irrelevant, especially when compared to faster-paced new-gen shonen, but since Dandadan can probably still run for a long time, I'm exited for whats coming

dandadan doesn't have haters, just tired fans. it has gotten repetitive. keep separating the two mcs every arc and dragging out the confession. keep making jiji and aira get in the way without developing them, or developing the rest of the cast we already have and just keep adding more characters. even the sharknado stuff right now is just boring. keep doing bizarre things until and sudden tragic backstory has always been the formula but now it's starting to feel stale, though admittedly one of the recent backstories was easily by far the best part of the whole arc. the pacing isn't good either, the arcs are dragged and there's almost no breathing time between arcs.

I'll say one thing when it comes to taking opinions of strangers on things like art, music, books/manga/manhwa/manhua/comics etc., cinema, or any form of creative media - these are purely subjective. From bitter experience, I've learned that it's usually in one's best interest to never take opinions online, from faceless strangers (or even if they have a picture which they claim/is supposedly their own) seriously - always take it with the biggest grain of salt possible.

For e.g. - if there are 15 people that you asked opinions from about manga X - let's say 7 people say that they have mixed feelings, 4 say that they didn't like it, and the remaining 4 say that they liked it a lot. In my humble opinion, it's essential to understand that neither of these opinions, taken one or more at a time, could give you the slightest hint of whether or not "you" as an individual will like it. The only people who have a shot at knowing your personal taste (REMEMBER - a shot, even that's not guaranteed) are your _close friends_ and family. People online, when it comes to disliking something/being negative about something - something that didn't unfold the way "they" wanted - something where the author's thought process and creativity started to collide against their own - in a story which intrinsically was never really theirs to begin with - these people, when it comes to being negative/criticising said piece of media in question - can be overtly pedantic to the point that's beyond the normal healthy human's imagination. I say pedantic, but in truth, it's just as much, if not a more delusional and caviling nature - they feel a need to manufacture grievances that suit their perspective and can make them appear right - boycotting the very idea that likes and dislikes about a certain piece of media doesn't have to dictate, and doesn't say anything about what others, especially people online that you most probably don't have a hint about - like and don't like as well. It's *subjective* for a reason. Now you could say that "I'm a casual enjoyer" - which I'm sure we all are - but when one would go to lengths of being captious, tendentious, and hypercritical about something online, I believe it's not really "casual" anymore. Thank you if you read so far, and good day to you regardless of whether you'll understand this or not. Last but not the least, I personally have enjoyed Dandadan a lot from the very first chapter upto the current chapter, and I'm glad I picked it up long before the anime was even announced. There's always some new adventure waiting to begin just around the corner, and that keeps me looking forward to it.

"Repetitive" and Dandadan in the same sentence should only tell you one thing - it's a pretentious idi0tic kid who's hating on Dandadan because it's probably getting more love and attention than their personal favourite anime.

im just behind you finishing vol. 8 and on ch. 67 and i kinda totally forgot about the golden ball storyline and it seemed like the story did too until it showed up again. also introducing Kinta is super annoying. what does he contribute?? Im not liking how the story introduces characters then has to catch up and make them likable and interesting and deeper after the fact. Kinta is the worst with it. I want to keep reading but think I might need to come back to it and go with something else for now..

Honestly, I think it really depends on what you enjoyed about Dandadan in the first place. If you were hooked on the crazy fast-paced energy, wild humor, and constant “what the heck just happened” moments in the early chapters, you’ll probably still find a lot to love later on. That said, I get why some people feel it slows down or gets a bit repetitive — the story starts spending more time on character relationships and longer arcs instead of throwing new aliens/ghosts at you every chapter.

For me, it’s still fun as hell. The art is insane, the fights are hype, and the character banter is gold. I think a lot of the “it’s boring now” comments are from people who wanted it to stay in pure chaos mode forever. If you vibe with the characters, the later chapters still hit hard.

All I can say is there's one EPIC arc, and like almost every manga, it's hard to keep the same level on following arcs.

In my opinion there's only one boring arc in Dandadan and I was glad when it ended, I don't care if it's important for the plot or whatever. I won't tell which arc is the epic and which is the worst, people need to figure out for themselves as they read, and I don't wanna influence nobody.

Currently I enjoy the read, but I and probably other fans miss the time when some characters had more screen time. Or page time? It's a manga after all.
Imagine how boring this world would be without Japan - a comment at youtube
