Does anyone know if this is true?

has Oda only planned just the ending of One Piece? not the start & the middle? ☹️

if so I´m sad if that´s the case because the way he handled the story from the beginning to now are amazing and very genius

Oda only has a rough outline of what will happen. That doesn't make him any less of a genius though. Don’t let the people in Pirate Folk ruin your fun.

Evidence:
• In the summer of 2022, he took a month-long break specifically to plan the final stage of the story.
• Back in 2015, Oda shared a photo of some of his planning notebooks. While he only showed the covers, they were meant to tease the then-upcoming Kaido and Big Mom arcs.
• In an interview, Oda mentioned that the Eleven Supernovas were created almost on the spot after his editor suggested the Sabaody Arc might be too boring without new characters.

Rule #1: Ignore the folk in Piratefolk. Every "folk" subreddit is toxic and meant to criticize any series they target to the extreme ends. Piratefolk used to be a place to reasonably criticize One Piece, but it's been ruined since to the point that they do nothing but endlessly nitpick and talk about how much they hate the current state of One Piece and Oda. I understand One Piece is not perfect, but there is no real constructive criticism to be found there anymore. I haven't looked at the posts you linked, but some of what they say is also not backed up by a source online, so there are plenty of trolls in there who love to make up information and incite hatred for the sake of it. Essentially, it's an extremely hate-filled echo chamber where you will hear nothing but negativity about One Piece. If you try to refute any one thing, you will be mocked, silenced, and downvoted to oblivion.

As for planning out the beginning and middle, Oda has already written out the general story of One Piece for his editors in case he dies prematurely. To my knowledge, Wano at least was planned from the very beginning, but he often makes changes and modifies things all the time. For instance, the Worst generation was something planned on the spot, and it set his schedule behind. Now, I can't even imagine the world of One Piece without them. For a story as long as One Piece, it's unreasonable to expect the writer to have every single detail and arc planned out from the start. Oda has done his very best with what he's created.

@BlueMoonTornado Thanks! I was confused when I saw there was two Piratefolk subreddit and One Piece subreddit it´s sad to hear Piratefolk is no longer the same & was ruined

I`m happy to hear Wano had planning it´s one of the top 3 arcs in my opinion! I agree about the Worst generation I like Law´s character if they suddenly disappeared it would feel something is missing

True the way he has done the story was amazing I wouldn´t be able to figure it out if there´s some ideas he thought of suddenly and put them in the arc it felt One Piece is complete in my opinion

sorry for the late reply

Thank you! I`m happy to hear he took a month break to plan the final stage I´m glad to hear about the covers Wano is one of my top 3 favorite arcs

Also the Robin´s fight! I LOVED her devil looking form! against Maria!

I like Law´s character it´s nice they were created I think the series wouldn´t feel the same if they disappear from the story

Oh come on, he didn't know everything from the beginning and you know what? IT MAKES HIM EVEN MORE IMPRESSIVE
Knowing everything from the begining is cool, but figuring out new ideas and finding out how to connect them to the story you thought of and making it feel natural and making it so everyone is suprised to learn it wasn't the original plan (hell the supernovas were created in like a day) is so much more impressive, the amount of respect I have for Oda for this without being a one piece fanis so high for his insane improvisation skills, they are way more impressive than writing an outline and just going after it for years like a machine

@Guilmon1 I agree When I´ve read One Piece for first time I didn´t feel there was anything missing or something appeared suddenly

like any author he obviously planned ahead of stuff, but it is almost certain that many things including the major stuff have been changed throughout the years and that he also changed his mind and such, including what the one piece actually is, it started from a treasure of riches that gold roger left that anyone could aquire to something else entirely that did not belong to roger but was just discovered by him and was related tothe void century and joy boy and requires certain conditions and such, those things were not pre-planned from the beginning and were changed down the road, he even said himself that he additionaly changes the plot based on if some theories become too obvious or populat, he switches it to something else, the one thing that was sure that he kept is that he said the manga would end when luffy finds the one piece, and later he added that there would also be a party there during the epilogue

He doesn't have everything planned, which is obvious if you've seen his dozens of rough sketches and prototype designs for characters he's drawn over the years that look completely different from the end results. Also the manga was only supposed to last about 4 years, but he kept expanding the plot. He knows what the ending will be like, just not exactly how he's going to get there.

I imagine that any planning he did for the final saga once Wano ended will almost certainly not be the end result of the series either since he's constantly adding plot lines and changing stuff.
