Those who have read the manga: is this a good prequel?

So, as the ”Zero” in the title suggests, this anime is a prequel to a manga called Ga-Rei where Kagura is a central/main? character. I was surprised to learn of this, cause it doesn’t really feel like a prequel to me? Honestly it feels like Kagura already had her full arc, so it’s kinda hard to imagine how to connect another one without it feeling diconnected, which is why I’m asking

yes, garei zero is telling the past and literally the ending is the beginning of the manga when you see the epilogue it is the beginning of the manga, it's a shame there is no continuation

Yes. Anime is prequel. In the final scene you can even see the male protagonist of the manga making an appearance.
