The animation in that first episode was unreal- the last time I was blown away like that from anime sakuga was probably WIT studio's omd scenes in attack on titan. Ive been recommending the first ep as much as I can, but Im looking forward to seeing the mainstream hype- hopefully it dosent go unnoticed being on adultswim and all.

I loved the first episode and I'll be eagerly waiting the next, I watched it during my lunch at work and I've been going around telling my coworkers to go watch lol.

I have seen a lot about it on tiktok actually, that was how I found out it was even coming out but some of those posts get like 500k+ views so it's definitely catching a lot of interest

I honestly wish the writing was better, but the fact that I was screaming out of hype despite the writing REALLY tells you how fucking good the fight scenes were.

On a different note, I've got to comment on this.

If you have a passion for good animation, you really got to step up your finder's game. Even among super popular titles, Jujutsu Kaisen not only looked incredible, season 1 in particular was actually directed by the same guy who is directing this show. and it doesn't look worse than this, at least not by much. S2's animation is more "animated" at the sacrifice of it being a little simpler in terms of art.

S2s visuals are more comparable to mob psycho 100 II, and honestly, I slightly prefer it for that.

There are a bunch of other recent anime with extremely impressive sakuga scenes like frieren or mushoku tensei, but if you want to real deal, you have got to check out redline. which is an older movie, but it's visuals are unrivalled.

Redline took so much out of madhouse, it almost bankrupted them to make it, no that's not a joke. and we're talking madhouse at their peak of popularity here.

Also on a side note:

The new madoka magica spin off, isn't exactly a great show, it's like a 5-6/10 but it has some 11/10 level animated scenes that are definitely worth watching in their own:
