12 episode is more than enough, I think they can adapt in 10 episodes easily

a normal movie runtime of about 100 minutes would be much to short for the remaining 9 chapters. they could only do it if they would rush certain scenes even more than the manga. And mappa also needs the one year break between part 2 and 3 to really give the final 9 chapters there all cause especially the big end fight is going to be hell to animate

If there's 12 eps and they adapt 1 chapter per episode, that leaves us with 1h to really make things shine and polish some rushed conversations here and there. I hope mappa take their time to really bring out the best of the final fight (both of them) and the last conversation between Eren and Armin. We'll see.

I’m really curious how they’re going to split the episodes up, I’ve got a feeling the finale will be a double/extended episode.
I just hope this stick to the original ending regardless of those who hate it.

Let it release first, at least. I have heard there are just 9=01 chapters left so it's probably going to be a pretty short season unless it happens to be very dialogue-heavy.

S4p2 had a budget of 4million dollars for just 12ep which is wayyyy higher than other animes out there, so I really dont know how much " bigger budget" you need.

Secondly aot is a monthly manga which means each chapter has atleast 2-2.5 times more pages then you're weekly chapters,that's why s4 adapted like a ch per episode. S4 of aot is really hard to animate( its berserk level difficulty) and p3 will be even more difficult( especially ch 134-138). Aot always takes 2x time consuming to animate because of titans, so although it looks like just 9 ch the reality is if it releases in jan it will be p1 all over again. I dont think its airing in jan as they already have vinland saga scheduled for jan but who knows, considering its mappa anything can happen.

So why not just make a 2+ hour movie? It’s not like it’s never been done and look at demon slayer. They got a big budget for that and it’s easily one of the best movies we’ve got action wise. a typical anime movie is less than 2hrs because japanese usually doesn't like long movies and from profit point of view less time means more screens and more profit. Now 2hrs means 6eps which is too less, ending needs minimum 8 eps or else it will be disaster

Like I said aot already has movie level budget and I'm pretty sure p3 will have higher budget than p2. The issue here is time, there's no need to rush this like part p1. In an interview the animators said they'll take more time for p3 and end it in best possible way. now i dont now whether they were being polite or genuinely honest, only time will tell. Personally I think p3 will air in april as it is also 10th anniversary of aot
