Now female Edward (lets call her Ælfthryth, sister of king Edward of the Anglo Saxons I think it fits) feels insecure about her height.

Why Japanese women when the series takes place in fake europe? Because what's considered short in some european countries may be normal for japan and the core audience needs to relate. I've been to places where all the women were taller than me so I've seen how dramatic height differences can be around the world.

Well fma has a god tier dub, everyone has their preferences but if you ever rewatch it I'd recommend you try the dub for a couple episodes
