i dont think there is any need for a season 3 imo. season 2 ended off perfectly. dont get me wrong i love k on but i think its better to just leave it as it is

Very unlikely, but to be honest, it is better without. The ending of K-On is one of the best I have seen in all of anime. It just ends on a perfect note. I don't want another Code Geass situation where a great ending is ruined by a sequel that isn't needed.

It is unlikely but if we were to see another k-on it would be an anime adaptation of k-on shuffle.

We might get season 3 in the future, but certainly with different studio and creative minds altogether since I doubt KyoAni would pick the series again with them now only focusing on making original anime and novel adaptation from their own publishing house.

Well there is manga to adapt for the 3rd season which chronicles their college life and azunyan's 3rd year, the 3rd season is highly unlikely because of the time gap and unfortunate events of kyoto animation but it would be really satisfying to watch the next season and i hope it does comes

Unlikely, and I’m kinda glad Naoko has left for now. I don’t really want a third season. I think it left on such a high that progressed through this very particular circumstance and journey of brilliant creators. I don’t need to see any less than what they had already maximised. I’ve been glad to see them exercise their skills in other forms.

I also don’t really wanna see someone else’s vision be put on for the third season. What made it so special was Yamada & Horiguchi-san’s input—plus many others—into turning a really drab and fairly shite manga into an amazingly heartfelt and beautiful show. They grew such a close bond with it and that’s what made K-ON such a special show. Dragon Maid S has been good despite the original director’s passing because that show had a very strong identity inherently. It was only boosted through amazing production talents and a respect for the material. K-ON was crafted on something so unique, there’d be no point to continue it with a “season 3” if it wasn’t the continuation of that particular adaptation.

If anything, I wouldn’t mind seeing an adaptation of K-ON! Shuffle. I don’t know what the story is like, but maybe that would be the best outcome to have someone else try to achieve the same goal that was set with the first anime, but in a new approach and total intention. I think that could be something quite cool. Everyone gets a similar K-ON! story again, but it doesn’t have to inherently and so harshly live up to what was set up in the first show.
