Right now I've watched until episode 13. I didn't read the manga. It will be 75 episodes to complete this anime, but I feel I can imagine the upcoming romance problem between Mashiro and Azuki, because of his naive personality.

I thought so too at first, but considering this is a shounen anime its not really that bad, shounen protags tends to be always aiming to the top and ignoring other peoples ideals or just think they are the ones who are right just to get to what they want to accomplish (what you call naive characteristic). If this was a slice of life anime, then id say yes their character is bad, but as a shounen, it actually captures it to the core.

I mean take a look at other shounen protagonists (e.g. Naruto, Goku, Asta) most of them have that "naive" personality of wanting to be best at something regardless of what people around them say.

I am playing into my own interpretation when I write this. They are children, naturally they are naive. They have yet to experience the world. Making money and working hard on Manga is not the world personally. So of course they have their own expectations. 99.9% of children are dumb and naive, we grow up through our own naivety though. If you are not a naive little dumbass growing up, how can you expect to grow and fail, to then succeed.

HOWEVER! I said I am using my own interpretation. What the MC promised at episode 1 I personally felt it set the two of them up quite well. They both have their own dreams, and while it is not expressed I personally believe they do not feel worthy of each other until they accomplish their dreams. Take it or leave it. People call it cringy and unrealistic, I agree on the unrealistic part as especially for their age I doubt either one would be willing to wait as they grew up. It does not mean it is impossible, it's just very unlikely.

You can see that not being together is very hard for both of them. Which I why I believe when she cried earlier, that you could see it was mentally weighing on her. I believe young people use the word love too much, typically it is lust. However in this case, I believe that they are actually in love. They cannot face that, until they feel worthy themselves. That is a very real feeling, because I have felt it myself in the past when it comes to love, especially since I have lived my life as a chronic under achiever, compared to my previous potential mates the overwhelming feeling of not being good enough coupled with the lack of understanding of why they chose me when there are so many other great people out there... it's depressing honestly.

I feel like people who have not been under those circumstance, people who have not let love slip away due to those feelings, simply do not understand those complex emotions. (for the record yes I am a masterful dumbass, but we live and learn kids). Not everyone is born into this world as a confident lady killing super star. I love this anime, because its so damn relatable.

Of course that's just a theory..... AN ANIME Theory. It's also how I chose to interpret the story, because any work of literature or art is always open for interpretation. You could have a completely different interpretation, there is nothing wrong with that.

I would not say that they are naive and unrealistic because I have a friend and his relationship is like MCs( though they at least talk each other but no more than 30mins per day).
It's just that they have mutual respect for each other's aspiration and are happy how they are taking their relationship.
It is shocking to find how many people do not believe they can learn, and how many more believe learning to be difficult.
