Last time it was around 8, now it's around 6.50, why people hate this show so much? I like this show, the characters can be funny and interesting, the art fits the anime perfectly, the music choices aren't bad, the plot knows what it wants to be and when. I take off my reality goggles for this show and I find it pretty enjoyable, even though I'm not an ecchi or pervy fan, it doesn't even take away most of your time since the experiments are only 4-5 minutes long. I get it that Mal's rating is stupid, but shows under 7 are classified as bad shows and I don't think this one deserves to be called one.

I don't recall it ever being near an 8, but most short shows tend to suffer in ratings. That said, this show is a bit lower than most short shows.
I do think that this is a "good show" (a solid 7 in my book), but it is a bit lacking in some ways.
In Ueno-san, the jokes either hit or miss completely. While comedy is always subjective, this show is a bit too off-beat for my tastes. It also suffers in that there are two segments per episode. Compare that to another 12-minute short like Aho Girl (Summer 2017) where it includes 3-4 segments per episode. I think it spreads itself too thin for most people's taste.
It also relies a bit too heavily on sexual humor which is a bit understandably jarring.
I think the main problem is just that the jokes follow a formula. Ueno makes device, encourages Tanaka to use it, but gets flustered anyways. Formulas can work, but the show isn't using as much variety as I'd like.
That said, the artstyle is pleasant (even if it is clearly on a budget), the music is good too. It's still enjoyable nonetheless.

In short, the score is understandable considering many short shows are in the 6/low-7 range. It's not a bad show, but it's being held back from being "great".

When you last time saw it ? I remember always see the rating while update my watching episode, and it always under 7. And I personally still consider series with score more than 6 as good enough.

Subjective taste is the answer to all these posts

My personal opinion:

All the characters are crap: a run of the mill tsundere, an airhead and a character who's flat as cardboard

An incredibly formulaic setup which basically makes every episode the same

The humor is off-putting considering all it is is dozens of ways to have a lewd situation with a loli character

Art style and ost is nothing special

Go watch Takagi-san or Asobi Asobase instead, they're plenty better.

Dunno about rating drops, but short anime (anime beneath the standard 20 min time) ALWAYS get low ratings. Scarcely do I see such anime get about 7.00, why that is, I can't say for certain.

It was never around 8. If anything it could be close to a 7 but as far as I recall it never even got past it.

I enjoyed this more than Kaguya-sama which is an overrated show with an score of over 8.5. MAL scores are never reliable.

MAL uses a weighted scoring system that has somewhat shown to yield a bias towards long series with many episodes. Particularly there's a (mostly natural) tendency for series that are broken into multiple "seasons" to benefit from more lenient scoring with each iteration; which isn't a flaw of the rating system per se but becomes a detrimental factor because this flaw is factors into the weighting. This is further exacerbated by MAL's inclination to over compartmentalize series into "seasons" while presenting the inverse problem for addressing series of movies which could reasonably be considered episodes of each other. There's also a physiological tendency to undervalue things that require a low investment.

^TL;DR The score of a work tends to be worthless without context.
