I've devised a way to view this anime series from the same people that made (but not as popular as) Clannad.
1. Start with episode 8
2. Watch the first few minutes of it, but then stop at the part where they decide to go on the journy.
3. Pretend they don't go on the journey, Kanna isn't cursed, and Misuzu lives.
That way, you'd only need one tissue.
Anyone have any similar viewing experience for Clannad, Angel Beats, When the Cry, Fate/stay, Steins;gate, ect...?

Sorry to break it to you but Air is an abomination and so is Angel Beats. Clannad and Steins Gate are awesome though.

The best alternative way of viewing Air, Clannad and Kanon is not viewing them at all. You spare yourself seeing the ugliest character design in anime history.

Wait, your post said nothing about Code Geass or No Game No Life. I'm confused now--how can you have "ugliest character design" in your post without also mentioning Code Geass or No Game No Life?

This glorious signature image was created by @Mayumi!

I am the Arbiter of Absolute Truth, and here is my wisdom:

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."

Well those two are certainly very bad but Air, Clannad and Kanon is an entirely different league of bad.

The best way to view Clannad is to stop at episode 18 of After Story. You spare yourself the most forced death
ever.

The best way to view Angel Beats is to not viewing it at all, so you don't have to be dissapointed for the rest of your life at how they didn't explore the setting, develop the characters, etc. because they went with 13 episodes.

For When they Cry or Steins;Gate, I guess it's better to read the VN's and then watch the anime, so you can bash the anime for how much they skipped or praise it for being an actually good VN adaptation (I'm pretty sure both are)

And for F/SN, I hate the DEEN 2006 adaptation (except for the glorious OST) and I've yet to play the VN and watch UBW so I can't speak about it. I would say ignore it and play the VN. And buy the soundtrack.

Maybe just don’t watch this show if you are looking for a good romance or a story with depth. If you just want a mediocre slice of life with some supernatural stuff go ahead and watch. Otherwise don’t

I wonder why I'm even still surprised that shows like this fly over so many peoples heads...

It’s mediocre af when compared to most shows. Perfect way to describe it.
