| Yuka is the reason why main character syndrome is bad. Now, I'm not going to say that she was only bullied because of that personality. Uh... Kids are cruel AF, and bully people for a multitude of reasons. Though I will say, her personality doesn't bring a lot of sympathy, or help matters. She feels that she's above everyone, but she wants their approval and to be liked. You don't invite people to like you, if you constantly act like you're superior to them. Youko acting like Yuka is NOT a good thing, or good character growth. I didn't like Yuka because she just wrote everyone off and was bitter and paranoid. I'm not going to be a hypocrite and like Youko for the same thing. The only good thing about Youko was that she was kind and compassionate. Now that she's a whiny person, but the asshole version, that makes me like her less! Though I will say, the Rat is a good addition. He's helping explain the world, and seems kind. |
| The Kirin (yay, dragon girafees) seem to expect her to solve some world environmental crisis. The whole thing about picking your son at a tree and mixed species. Takki also had one. You can be bro with another species. We already know evil emperor is linked to sending beasts at 'outer visitors'. I am liking Youko, she goes from someone empty who was trying her best to be a goody shoes, except when she was trying to steal Asano from Sugimoto. So, Sugimoto is justified on not liking Youko too. Sugimoto is the common protagonist character in isekai that has genre knowledge, and has been bullied into human mistrust. The problem is that this is not playing like a isekai fantasy. I like the Rakushuu appearing right now. Even if he is the first one to be an ally. Also, his choice at explaining his name seems like he is Sugimoto. He is so despised too. And his belief of a place where he can be fulfilled. I hope his story line does not follow anything happening with Sugimoto. Sword spirit seems contrived. Is he just saying what is already in Youko's heart but she denies, or he really knows more than her? |
