So is anyone else a huge fan of idol anime? I've only seen three different ones, iDOLM@STER, both seasons of Love Live! School Idol Project (which is absurdly huge right now in Japan), and both season of AKB0048 but every single one of them has been amazingly enjoyable. I spent an entire two months playing hours of Love Live! School Idol Festival (an app game on ios and android) every day this summer and I still listen to the music sometimes. If you walk around Akiba you cant go a block without hearing some Love Live music or seeing some goods for sale, from what I've seen xD.

That said, while Love Live! has the biggest fandom (which is so fun to be a part of! Nozomi power!) I liked the iDOLM@STER and AKB0048 anime even more. It all started with iDOM@STER, and then Love Live! happened due to various circumstances, which made me realize how much I love anime idols. And then I watched AKB0048 and my mind was blown.

Anyone else like idol anime? I'm planning on watching more when I can get a break and get into the mood ^^ (so hopefully in a few weeks). Any suggestions? Favourites? Fanboying and fangirling ho!

Futsuu no Joshikousei ga [Locodol] Yatte Mita. from a season or two ago was a lot of fun.

Wake_Up_Girls! was decent. Though, I think the prequel movie was better than the series itself which I think took some wrong turns.

Shounen Hollywood: Holly Stage for 49 is far better than it has any right to be.

Pri Para is a currently ongoing series that I'm enjoying. Probably won't appeal to everyone.

Macross. One of my favorite series ever. Lot's more idol stuff going on than you might expect. Well worth anyone's attention.

Also, Miss Monochrome. I know you've seen it but others might not have. Well worth the time. Fun and funny show.

Wait... Idol stuff in Macross? That's... surprising to me. I recall that AKB0048 was produced by a guy who worked on Macross (we talked about that once). I wonder if there's a connection there.

I do agree Miss Monochrome was silly and fun, but it's definitely different from the rest of the idol anime I have seen xD. Much more of a comedy.

Not a guy who worked on Macross. The creator of Macross. Music, usually in the form of an idol, is a central element in every Macross series.

Dude, I bet Tex would like Idolm@ster. There's a lot to the characters I think. You know, I should rewatch it sometime to see how much there actually is going on in it. Regardless, I can say for certain it was super enjoyable

I've seen Idolm@ster you fence posts. I didn't mention it because ara was asking for recommendations and he'd already brought it up.

Don't really feel like I liked one much more than the other. Maybe Idolm@ster. Favorites were Makoto and Rin respectively. Love Live School Idol....Fencing?

Festival ^^
it's an app for iOS and Android and it's kind of addictive heh... heh... It's like a card collecting rhythm game

You're pretty unique for having Rin as a favourite. I think she has one of the best speaking voices, but my favs are Nozomi and Miki (but I really love Takane Shijou a ton too). Actually from the beginning I thought that Chihaya would be the one for me, but Miki surprised me (and Takane is just amazing, let's be honest)

(also shoutout to Producer for being amazing)

Leave it to Texward to plug Macross.
With that being said, I'd agree that music being the central element, would make Macross and idol series of sorts.

I can honestly say I've never watched an idol series; I've had Wake Up Girls on my ptw for a long time (since it aired), but haven't gotten around to it.

In case there was still any doubt about Macross belonging in this category, I give you Idolm@ster's Makoto singing a Ranka Lee song from Macross Frontier:

I think this also proves once and for all that Makoto is the best.

I have no idea under what circumstances this happened but I couldn't be happier that it did.
