A teaser trailer for the Fullmetal Alchemist live-action movie is finally out and it's already pretty obvious how people are going to react to it. In the brief 32 second clip, we see a Japanese Edward Elric (played by Ryōsuke Yamada) performing alchemy, getting emotional with his brother Alphonse, and being charged at by a terrfying CGI monster (chimera?).
While it's definitely too early to possibly form any kind of opinion about what the movie is going to be like, people will likely go ahead and try anyway. Ever since the furor surrounding the live-action Ghost in the Shell casting, movies like Attack on Titan and Fullmetal Alchemist have been criticized with a renewed vigor for featuring Japanese actors in place of the Caucasians that the original anime's would seemingly call for.
Despite the outrage this is sure to cause for 15 year old anti-SJW internet campaigners the world over, the teaser was pretty good. A little boring, sure, but perfect for fans of the anime that finally get to see a glimpse of this thing take shape as a live-action movie.
The live-action Fullmetal Alchemist movie is slated for release in Winter 2017.
