I'll be rewatching GXP later this year, maybe it's time for another disappointment. :D In the dub, I liked the GXP harem a bit more than the original - that is, the OVA group that excluded Kiyone. And sure, GXP's version of "Tenchi solution" was cheap, but I much preferred it over no final coupling at all (OVA series until the upcoming fifth clears that up, and War on Geminar), an out-of-nowhere pairing (Tenchi Universe dub - I expect I'll like it better when I watch the sub), or new OC girl victory (Tokyo and Ai, though in Ai it didn't bother me). |

Apparently the fifth OVA series will be about Tenchi's children, and will have six episodes. It's been really fun for me to rediscover the series in Japanese; I look forward to the rest, especially GXP (which I seem to have liked far more than most) and of course Tenchi Universe. |

I've invited a few friends who haven't seen Tenchi to do a group watch, Reddit style - that is, we don't watch a stream together online with chat or anything, but we independently follow a watching schedule and come to talk about the episodes as we watch them. The original OVAs are on Crunchyroll now, transferred from Funimation. Region restrictions are caused by Funimation only buying rights for those regions back when they licensed it.OVAs 1 and 2, available in USA and Canada: http://www.crunchyroll.com/tenchi-muyo-ova-series OVA 3, available in the USA, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa: http://www.crunchyroll.com/tenci-muyo-ryo-ohki They also have Tokyo and GXP. Universe hasn't come over yet, but probably will at some point since Funimation has it. Tenchi Universe is the only anime show I ever bought on DVD. (Since then I've bought BDs instead) |
