I would just like to say a few things:
1) This did not win a Nobel prize. Far from it, it won the 2000 Ig Nobel prize in psychology, which is a joke prize awarded to "honor achievements that first make people laugh, and then make them think".
2) There is no Nobel prize in psychology. There IS however a Nobel prize in physiology or medicine. That was awarded "jointly to Arvid Carlsson, Paul Greengard and Eric R. Kandel".
3) Currently, it is believed this only applies to certain cultures. For example, Japanese people might show an effect that is the opposite of this, because of the people of that culture's tendency to underrate their abilities. |
