i recommend:girl friends! it's actually good for starters because the plot actually is more likely reality based ( because of the author's/MANGAKA'S experience) |

You should with the ones that came out this year: Aoi Hana and Sasameki Koto, they're good. I would recommend reading yuri manga too, I think it has more variety than manga. |

Mai Otome has more yuri, true, especially in Zwei, but it's still bad comparing to HiME. |
