The later manga chapters give far more backstory to some characters, which the two seasons didn't reach in terms of plot.As far the plot itself, there isn't too much of a difference in both the earlier anime and earlier manga. However, the two seasons of the anime re-order some chapters from the manga. In the manga, the Pinocchio storyline begins earlier than in the anime. The anime starts the Pinocchio story in the 2nd season, while the 1st season is more episodic. Also, the end of the 1st season seems to me slightly misleading, but that doesn't quite occur in the manga. To keep in fairly short, the anime selects certain chapters from the earlier manga to emphasize different stories in each season - they slightly re-order the plot. By doing this, the anime places far greater emphasis on one storyline in the second season, while making the first season appear more episodic and less-focused. |

Finally bought the 5th Gunslinger Girl omnibus manga. I haven't read it yet, but I've been looking forward to it. I do, however, read these things very slowly: once chapter per night. I like to just let the stories sit and stir in my head for a while before going on to the next one. |

Interesting to see taraswizard down there mentioning philosophical connections to Gunslinger Girl. I'm not familiar with that book cited, but I wonder if the essays concern the ethics involved in GG. (If I had to write one, it'd center on Machiavelli and the Problem of Dirty Hands in politics.) In any case, I should buy the latest omnibus that recently came out! |

So a few weekends back I bought at PMX show http://pacificmediaexpo.info/2011/ a copy of Anime and Philosophy, a book that considers philosophical concepts through watchiing anime. Unknown to me prior to owning the book was that at least two of the book's essays are on Gunslinger Girl. That's very cool. |

Finally caught up with the latest scanslated chapters.I used to wish that Claes would appear more often, but the way things are going right now, perhaps she's better off making occasional cameo appearances. |

This what is on Seven Seas site. They will relaunch Gunslinger Girls in two omnibus editions at around $15.99 ea and about a 544 pg count each. The first is coming out in Feb. 2011 and the second depend on sales of the first. That is as much as I know at this time. |
