I'm hoping to mix with a group/bunch of people who plays FFXIV on MAL, but based on chillgamer190's comment since august I assume this group is dead? :(

Chillgamer190 | Aug 15, 2020 5:41 AM
Is this group still alive?

Like walking through streets after the apocalypse. The aftermath.

Yeah, you can trek up to the gates of Ishgard and get a pretty good look at the towering city from the distance. However, the guards won't let you in, saying something about 'The Fury'.

Also, nice site. Thanks for that. I'll add that to the list of useful links in club details along with a good site for crafting recipes and where to find materials.

I found a pretty nice fansite that gives you detailed information bout the various regions of the world and nice High quality maps to look at with screen shots. Looks like this game really has an impressive massive scale world. Far larger then i would of thought at first glance. There are 5 known regions to explore and also 3 main cities as of current. But rumors going around that there are actually 5 other regions that are completely unexplored as well as a 4th major city that you can see off in the distance but can't yet explore yet. It looks to me like SE has some major plans for expanding the world if there is already 5 other regions that are already created, but just not accessible yet. Or maybe you can go there, but people just havn't figured it out yet. Hmm very mysterious.

One of the regions called More Dhono is i think one of the high lvl regions, cause some one mentioned that a mob striked them for a total of 6907 damage. OUCH!! lol Anyways it pleases me to see that SE has a huge open ended world to explore rather then it being just linear zones that you can travel to or wrap like aion is. Nope. Everything is connected.

Ah, I didn't realize that. I'm sure it has changed a good deal since then, in that case.

TallonKarrde23 | Sep 18, 2010 10:30 PM
That info is the same as they posted way back during alpha even, I doubt it's up to date anymore as they probably added and changed a lot to what they will actually put on the retail installer.

According to the official NA site: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/#/about/game_info

Install: 15 GB
Download 6 GB

I'm curious as to whether that 6 GB is meant to cover future patches as well or if there will actually be a 6GB patch at launch. That's a massive patch if it is.

KawaiiFiveO | Sep 18, 2010 12:14 PM
I'm not entirely sure how accurate that number is, as that was a figure thrown out by a customer service representative in response to an inquiry about an alternative to the patcher, because of the internet fair usage policy in some countries.

Still, if the retail client is even close to 20 gigs, that's still HUGE. I'm curious to see what all is added. I mean, most cinematics are rendered in real time, so they wouldn't take up much space, just that first opening cinematic is pre-rendered. It's not like FFXIV uses large texture resolutions, either. So, hopefully, there's a lot of added content.

Retail client (on disc) is confirmed to be 22 GB large.

That's pretty much about twice what we have in beta right now including all patches.

Gonna be a SHIT ton of new stuff right away even for beta testers

TallonKarrde23 | Sep 16, 2010 7:04 PM
WHY NOT 4 DAYS BEFORE INSTEAD OF AFTER ;_;

TallonKarrde23 | Sep 16, 2010 7:04 PM
Atelier Rorona comes out like 4 days after XIV and I have it preordered too BUT WHEN THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO PLAY IT щ(゚д゚щ)

KawaiiFiveO | Sep 16, 2010 6:54 PM
Haha, of course!

And yeah, that's why I wrote down all my settings for a worst case scenario. I'd recommend backing up your FFXIV folder in 'My Documents' just to be on the safe side.

TallonKarrde23 | Sep 16, 2010 6:06 PM
You should! Figaro has me on it so it's the best!

As for beta to retail, i figured we'd have to install it all from scratch, already been working on getting things ready.

Though, it better not delete my saved character data!

KawaiiFiveO | Sep 16, 2010 2:19 PM
I may end up getting a second character and creating in on Figaro.

Also, confirmation that we will have to uninstall the beta client and install the retail client from the disk: http://support.eu.square-enix.com/news.php?id=903&la=2&n=2&drt=1284631200&tag=137454b7c4cd549a545b63356c5d123ebcd58d71

TallonKarrde23 | Sep 16, 2010 2:32 AM
Yeah I have way more than I have on there, but it has a limit so I'm being picky ;_;

SHOULD BE 'IM JOINING YOU ON FIGARO DAWG'

KawaiiFiveO | Sep 16, 2010 12:02 AM
That gallery almost makes me want to join you on Figaro.

I should make a screenshot gallery. I've already got over 200MB in screenshots. >.>;;
