Club Members: The anime featured in the club sticky back in June Princession Orquestra....got it's second pv......it looks alot like magical girl, but the synopsis/description sounds like a idol anime??? I guess we wont know for sure if it will be magical girl, idol or like Symphogear....until it airs.

@RICEA42991 Exactly~! There needs to be more time in a day for us to get stuff done, lol~!x'D>

Are you watching anything this Season?:>

RICEA42991 | Oct 8, 5:56 PM
@Klefki_of_Awsome I feel the same way about not having enough time and going to bed late and rising late because of it haha

Klefki_of_Awsome | Oct 8, 9:27 AM
@RICEA42991 Haha, same here! I have a small pile of LNs and mangas I really need to get to since a few months ago now, and I keep delaying reading them..x'D I feel there's always too many things to do in a day and not enough time to do it (and it doesn't help that I go to bed late and wake up late because of it too)..>.<3

Exactly!!<3 X'39

@Klefki_of_Awsome You remind me of myself.....I keep saying I'll eventually get started on watching/finishing up some more anime, but I keep getting more and more manga to read. Some I haven't even added to my plan to read list yet because I simply keep getting interested in more then i can even bother adding to plan list. I haven't even been able to catch up with Tamon and this other potiential magical girl one past the first volume because I have a pile of manga on my desk waiting for me to finish first haha

Tanemura is the perfect example of how she can make her work look beautiful and innocent and instead they're filled with deep topics handled so well.

Klefki_of_Awsome | Oct 7, 12:24 PM
@RICEA42991 I see, that sounds like my cup of tea, I'll had it to the list!xD> (I should really GET to my list at some point too, lol, but eh, baby steps, baby steps! I need to get through irl books before I can get to the online translated stuff (which will probably still be around once I get to it, tbh)~=v=3

That's the thing I love about Tanemura's works, she can touch on darker subjects and still keep everything in a neat package of beautiful art and masterful tactfulness and sincerity. A lot of creators may brush over something uncomfortable on a passing whim, and never fully deal with it, but not her, she knows full well how to deal with these subjects and even make them feel meaningful to the watcher/reader. and I can greatly appreciate that, at times!>:P>

Soo true, sadly.. But they might still have entries on MAL (and if they aren't there, I could ask Phloup about it later).

@Klefki_of_Awsome I still am one volume away from it's ending (I can't believe such a nice series is so short :( ) but so far it's been actually comforting, relaxing and a bit whimsical in feel. The only depressing thing about it is minor, if anything Full Moon is more depressing because it speaks of death. Unless it suddenly turns bleak in the last volume........that would be weird though to suddenly change in the last volume.

Sadly older work rarely gets translated....even online.....its a shame because there's plenty of interesting and beautiful older manga.

Klefki_of_Awsome | Sep 30, 1:43 PM
@RICEA42991 Ahh, that looks really cute! I remember hearing about that one before, but is it gory and/or depressing? The whole darkness thing makes me think the ending might be sad..>:/>
I'd love to know about it too! I loved their more recent work, so I'm sure I could find something to enjoy (and most likely get weirded at at the same time, lol) from their older works as well, lol!x'D>

@Sheepgrl What ooReiko said is pretty much also what I think as well. Cunchyroll used to be free with ads and it was a good thing.....Funimation used to be good like this as well until they sold their streaming rights to crunchyroll and now are the same. Although in the past crunchyroll didn't really have series I was interested in watching, it still stinks that they changed their methods upon adding more shoujo.....and nearly all of them are locked premium these days and I simply don't want to shelve out my money to a company that uses such greedy methods and I don't want loads of subscriptions either.

I understand though depending on country the fan lives in Netflix is all they can access so they have no choice, but that still doesn't make me like the company. However regardless shojo and magical girl was always kind of limited in online availability so not finding series online is nothing new

ooReiko | Sep 25, 1:24 AM
I also remeber when crunchyroll was free site but recently even though they stepped up their respect they also stepped up their greed which i didnt agree with its why i deleted my account from there and Netflix also.

Sheepgrl | Sep 25, 12:37 AM
@ooReiko I actually ended up checking Crunchyroll when you mentioned that they put Minky Momo on there which is great and I was interested in starting to watch it, but unfortunately every single episode is locked behind the premium subscription feature. :(

I would love to use Crunchyroll as I used to in the past to watch the anime that I'm interested in on there, but almost every anime on there is pretty much locked behind a paywall these days. If it wasn't for this paywalling feature, I probably would have been able to watch and get into more Magical Girl anime </3 (;-;)

This is why I only use Netflix to watch anime these days unfortunately. We've been using Netflix for 8 years, so there is no way I'm going to be paying Crunchyroll an absurd amount of money just to watch anime on their site when it used to be free in the past. I honestly really hate what streaming services have become these days and wish it were simpler just like in the past. </3

@RICEA42991 hi! Thank you for welcoming me!

I don't blame you if you want to speak negatively about Netflix. They are quite well-known for removing favourite series in favour for other random shows on their platform that most users don't care about. I honestly don't know what goes through their heads when thinking that, but oh well. (;-;)
Yeah I don't blame Japanese companies either. I had a feeling that was the reason why they are usually so protective over their intellectual properties, but thank you for giving me that confirmation.

ooReiko | Sep 23, 1:33 AM
I think the issue with netflix recently was their lack of respect for the magical series since they seem to be deleting more of them than adding. For example i think Crunchyroll who used to have lower respect also i think they recently stepped up more since i think they added Minky Momo as a classic series which i think i respected by all fans and the Prcure series was also in their site.

Though i havent used Crunchyroll either for years so im not sure what is their current respect

RICEA42991 | Sep 22, 1:58 PM
Whoa I skipped a day and suddenly got a bunch to read. Not that I'm complaining :)

@Sheepgrl Welcome, and you did a good pick of Sailor Moon....that series was the 'it' series to many 90s anime fans in English speaking countries back then so it's very big and important to not only magical girl history but to many long time anime fans hearts as well. It is a classic in it's own right. As for Netflix.....I don't wish to speak to harshly since lots of people get very defensive about the site for some reason. But in my opinion Netflix is a place I dont rely on for stuff that are foreign like anime. Netflix has these past 6-7 years become so much a corporate giant that it focuses more nowadays on their own product instead of variety. I'm not a fan of their methods to be honest. Personally I'm more of a collector type so I only relying on sites for first trys in series because toooo often they remove series that 'they' consider unpopular.....among other reasons why I dont.

Japan is protective because they've been cheated of their creations by places like America countless times in the past. I dont blame them.

@Klefki_of_Awsome Hehe it's Call in the Night....its in my recently read manga list. Braces? I know the feeling well. As for the mangaka's of Utena yeah they've been at it since 85 to my knowledge. I wish I'd find more of their stuff translate because alot of their early stuff looks cute.

ooReiko | Sep 22, 1:09 PM
I think the thing with Glitter Force was that they tried to promote the Precure series to western fans but maybe Toei didnt agree their version of the translation or the changes they made to the series or then it didnt gain the popualrity and after that they didnt allow any more of the Precure series in Netflix. I think currently Toei allows the Precure series only in Crunchryroll in the western sites

I was also surprised when they posted about about ghibli and I thought maybe they started to respect the anime series more after that but they didnt really change much after that. Other weird thing about netflix is that their japanese site has lot more anime series than their site in other countries so maybe they dont think others arent interested in anime series than japanese fans and its why they only buy the rights for japanese

Sheepgrl | Sep 22, 12:33 PM
@ooReiko I also think in regards to the fact that because Netlfix doesn't have a lot of anime, especially magical girl anime, is because Japanese companies are extremely protective over their lincensing if I remember correctly, which I do find a bit strange, but oh well. It may explain why Netflix takes so long to add certain anime, so in a way it is not entirely their fault.

Like when I heard 4 years ago it was announced that they were going to be adding Ghibli movies to Netlfix, I was almost in disbelief because of how protective Japanese companies can be over their intellectual property, but I'm really glad they were able to get permission to add their movies onto their platform.

So hopefully as more companies sign deals with Netlfix, then other anime companies will be more willing to have their anime on Netflix.

Though I will say I find it quite strange that they haven't been able to add the original Sailor Moon or even the Sailor Moon reboot. TOEI Animation have the lincensing rights over Sailor Moon, right? And doesn't TOEI already have 2 of their magical girl animes available streaming on Netlfix (Glitter Force and Glitter Force Doki Doki)? Tbh I find it quite strange that it is evening taking them so long to add Sailor Moon in the first place (assuming Netflix wants to have Sailor Moon available on their platform, which would be very strange if they didn't.)

ooReiko | Sep 22, 3:24 AM
Hmm I didnt realize they added Cosmos to there since I remeber when they added Eternal movie some years ago and when Cosmos was released they were quiet about it for some reason and didnt add it at that time but I guess they finally added it now. Also i agree that it doesnt make lot sense adding only the final movie since you cant really undertand the story if you never saw the full series.

Sheepgrl | Sep 22, 2:14 AM
@ooReiko I totally agree with you. It's a shame they took Cardcaptor Sakura down. I also feel it doesn't make sense to add Sailor Moon Cosmos onto their platform since I think there are some people who haven't read or watched Sailor Moon, so how are they supposed to understand the characters and the plot? I think they should have added the original anime, or even the Sailor Moon reboot onto the platform for people to watch before adding Sailor Moon Cosmos so they can understand the characters and story.

But since they have added Cardcaptor Sakura in the past and have added other 90's anime, it does give me a bit of hope that they will add the Sailor Moon anime and hopefully add other past magical anime in the future too!

ooReiko | Sep 21, 1:53 PM
I agree that Cardcaptor and Sailor Moon are good series also im not surprised about Netflix since often theye dont really respect the magical series which i think is why they dont really have lot of magical series in their site.

Sheepgrl | Sep 21, 10:27 AM
Hi! I'm new to the site!

Just wanted to say that I love magical girl anime and wished there was more available on Netflix to watch. :( I was watching Cardcaptor Sakura, but I didn't get to finish it because Netflix took it off. </3
I have started reading the Sailor Moon manga and I'm really enjoying it, though!!
