Ortiz got what he deserve. Although im kinda sad that i didnt see the rest of the fight, that was one of the most exciting Mayweather fight i ever seen, never seen him so aggressive :(

Who else thinks Maidna can take out Maywhether after that shameful display of sportsmanship in the Ortiz fight?

I guess it's time for a revival!

It's dead as dead can be.

And Nikolai Valujev is the best.

Mayweather is a bitch. Unfortunately he's gonna beat Ortiz by decision but I don't mind. I just lost hope for Ortiz when he gave up against Maidana, but who could blame him. My current fave is Sergio Martinez.

By the way I can't help but think this club is dead.

I had this too. Do you wear proper protection? Wraps? Gloves? If not, do use it. And let your hands rest a bit before you go punching again. Wrapping when you're not punching helps too.

UPDATE: AHHH! been punching this bag for a week straight and my hands/wrists feel like they are broken. What should I do? Is this normal?

Drknownothing | Dec 30, 2010 8:40 AM

Drknownothing | Dec 29, 2010 10:02 AM
Hello all, just joined this thing, too bad it's dead. Let's bring it back

Rethardus | Jun 19, 2010 2:26 AM
This club really is dying, well it hasn't even started.

But not if it's up to me, the examinations are over. Going to work on this club.

When I was a kid, I never liked boxing because I didn't understand it. I thought it was just lame that they keep "hugging" each other. After I've watched Ippo, I understand the moves they're pulling, and learned a lot about boxing. Then I started to watch real boxing matches on Youtube. Around that time, Fight Night: Round 4 was out, so it was a great oppurtunity to learn more about boxing.

But I'm dawdling here. I just love boxing because I love to fight. I just love aggressive sports, and nothing beats boxing to that. I also love the fact that it's tactical, unlike what people think. The psychological warfare is immense too, too bad it's kind of dying now (just think of Frazier vs. Ali). Another thing I love about boxing is the determination that the boxers have.

People don't realize that professional boxers puts everything on the line. They train their asses off, some of them needs to maintain their weight and have this inhuman diet. And every second in the ring is dangerous. They just hit each other for the enjoyment of the crowd (and for themselves of course).

That's what I love about boxing.

So I've got a question for the people here: why is it that you like/love boxing?

Jesuvius | Jun 5, 2010 3:49 AM
Yeah I've seen it lying around, but didn't feel like buying it (I'm a dvd collector, just mostly real movies, not documentaries).

Million Dollar Baby is also a really nice movie. Other nice movies are the Rockies (Rocky, Rocky II, Rocky III and Rocky Balboa: IV and V suck), Ali (really nice portrayal of Muhammed Ali by Will Smith, and Ali helped the movie) and Raging Bull (By Martin Scorcese, about a really violent man who's into boxing, so not the "nice guy" Rocky, Ippo and somewhat Ali are).

If you're that badass like Ippo, you can get into it after a year.

Real boxing is hard business, especially when you're in a small country. I'm reading "Million Dollar Baby" right now, such an epic book. The writer used to be a real cutman, and you can see he knows what he's talking about, and he writes the book with such a passion.

Btw, other things I'd recommend: go watch "Facing Ali", it's a documentary about Ali. Very interesting, you get to know his arch rival, Joe Frazier, better too.

Jesuvius | Jun 3, 2010 2:34 PM
The aim isn't really to knock eachother out. It's more to practice moves and techniques, and to gain experience. It's not supposed to be full violence yet :P

I doubt any of these members have a pro record. Sure it seems easy in Hajime no Ippo, but becoming a pro is just as difficult as in other sports :)
