Ulen Hibiki (ユーレン・ヒビキ)In C.E. 46, Ulen was approached by Al Da Flaga, the father of Mu La Flaga, at his private laboratory at the Mendel Colony. Al sought to commission Ulen to create clones of himself because he thought of his son as a failure and refused to acknowledge him as his child. Despite Ulen’s initial hesitation to break the laws regarding cloning, Al persuaded him into making clones by offering to fund his projects. However, the clones of Al, such as Rau Le Creuset and Rey Za Burrel, all had shortened telomeres within their DNA causing a rapid aging process which meant a short lifespan, and all had to take pills to stop the pain that ensued. Thus, they were all considered failures. Despite this revelation, Al continued to fund Ulen’s work.By the C.E. 50s, Ulen and his wife Via were working on the Ultimate Coordinator Project, with the purpose of fixing the inherent problems surrounding Coordinators. In his struggles to find the solution, Ulen realized that the problem surrounded the mother’s womb being unable to properly maintain the changes made to the fetus’s DNA. To resolve this, Ulen and his team constructed an Artificial Womb, to allow them to produce a Coordinator without genetic errors. Despite several failures, Ulen continued with his experiments, especially after finding out his wife was pregnant with twins. In C.E. 55, Ulen removed one of his own children, who would be named Kira, from his wife, and placed him in the artificial womb. However, Via, strongly objected to using one of their children to create the Ultimate Coordinator, stating that life should be born and not manufactured. But Ulen still went along with the project, asserting that Kira was his son and that he would make him the "Ultimate Coordinator" which he believed would bring about happiness for Kira. Soon enough, Ulen was able to perfect the artificial womb, which incubated the perfect son. Soon after the success of his experiment, his lab was attacked by Blue Cosmos forces. Ulen and his wife were killed in the attack, however their children were able to escape in the care of Via's sister, Caridad Yamato. (Source: Gundam Wiki) Voice Actors
