Leftovers from Last Season:

  • Kandagawa Jet Girls: The breast anime of the season. 6/10

  • Rifle is Beautiful: This is almost the ISO of CGDCT anime. It’s so painfully average yet nothing infuriating to make it below average and nothing worthwhile to make it above average. 5/10

  • Mairimashita Iruma-kun: It's fine. The best parts all involved Alice or Clara to some degree. The second half with its overdrawn arcs was a real letdown though. 6/10

Winter:

  • Heya Camp: It's comfy time! 8/10

  • Eizouken ni Te wo Dasu na!: Also comfy time. 7/10

  • Bofuri: Like a less aggressive GGO. Very fun. 6/10

  • Ishuzoku Reviewers: SUKEBE GA DAISUKI! 8/10

  • Oshi ga Budoukan Ittekuretara Shinu: Pretty funny wacky comedy. Liked the emphasis of idol fans instead of the idols themselves. 7/10

  • Koisuru Asteroid: Jesus christ Doga Kobo what happened to you. 4/10

  • Somali to Mori no Kami-sama: Beautiful yet stressful. 6/10

Spring:

  • Jashin-chan Dropkick': While not as wild or wacky as the first season, it still has its moments. Maybe the fourth wall self referential stuff was a bit too much. 7/10

  • Princess Connect Re:Dive: Endearingly wacky comedy with a ton of imaginative scenarios. Lags a bit near the middle with its forced drama. 7/10

  • Tamayomi: Too much baseball for me. Yeah I know, complaining about there being baseball in a baseball show, bite me. 4/10

  • Kakushigoto: It's perfectly normal. Nothing too special or crazy. 5/10

  • Listeners: why did i waste my time on this 3/10

  • Bakarina: Strangely endearing isekai romcom with a likable protagonist and fun scenarios. 6/10

Summer:

  • Umayon: It's just more Umamusume but since it's only a short it's a lot more tolerable. 5/10

  • Houkago Teibou Nisshi: The harrowing tale of our protagonist’s descent into insanity as she hallucinates and murders all in her path. Hina. Hinamizawa. It’s all there... 7/10

  • Deca-Dence: It's fine. Natusme a total cute. 6/10

  • Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai!: This was pretty boring and mediocre. 4/10

  • Lapis Re:Lights: The Milky Holmes lite I never knew I always wanted where everyone is damedame. Gratuitous and excessive fanservice very much welcome. 7/10

  • Peter Grill to Kenja no Jikan: Tags: Male:Netorare, Male:Mind Break 6/10

  • A Whisker Away: The thing is, I'm old now, so seeing Miyo's petulance is really aggravating. 4/10

Fall:

  • Ochikobore Fruit Tart: Toilet Idols are the best. 7/10

  • One Room S3: Schizophrenic girls talking to ghosts, walls and cups. I mean, what else did I expect. 5/10

  • Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear: Sunk cost fallacy is a hell of a thing... 4/10

  • Dogeza de Tanondemita: The show is literally just Sugita acting like a dumbass in front of everyone. And it is GLORIOUS. That final episode twist was too good too. As well as the other 4th wall breaks in other episodes. 6/10

  • Strike Witches S3: Why is Shizuka-chan so useless, she ruined the whole series. 7/10

  • Adachi to Shimamura: A better Denpa Onna 7/10

  • Majo no Tabitabi: You know Jay, this reminds me of an episode of Star Trek... 7/10

  • Assault Lily: The show provides a lot of buildup only to resolve it in the most anti-climactic way possible. At the end of the series you learn almost nothing more than what you started out with, and the SoL sequences aren't good enough to justify the series' existence. A poor man's Toji no Miko in every way. 5/10

  • Love Live Nijigasaki: That one good Ayumu episode was a goddamned tease, and I wish the show didn't skirt around the yuri undertones so much. 5/10

  • Senjou no Sigrdrifa: I can't believe they killed off Sugita, Nakamura, and Mafia. 5/10

  • Iwa Kakeru: Your typical Cute Girls Do Sports anime with a prodigy MC and a heavier focus on sports than cute girls. Pacing feels rushed towards the end. I do like Tamura Yukari playing a villainous role and using her deeper voice for it, makes watching Higurashi Gou all the more satisfying really. 5/10

  • Munou no Nana: A dumbed-down Hitman, but still pretty fun. 6/10

  • Gal to Kyouryuu: Mieharu-san... ;_; 8/10

  • Toji no Miko OVA: Mediocre OVA based off of the gacha with none of the things you've come to love from the original TnM. 5/10

  • Rail Romanesque: GATAGOTO CHOO CHOO TETSU MUSU~ 6/10

  • Maoujou de Oyasumi:

    8/10

  • Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka? BLOOM:

    8/10

Older Stuff I've watched:

  • Higurashi no Naku Koro ni: Mystery-comedy-slice of life-action thriller-horror-slasher-conspiracy thriller mess of genres that somehow work out to provide some very good entertainment. It really is thrilling to see what could happen next while attempting to deduce the truth of it all. Complete schlock yet utterly charming and enjoyable. Very classy episode previews too. Shion the real MVP. 8/10

  • Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai: Decently satisfactory resolutions to all, but once the mystery is solved it basically boils down to an action-thriller. Once the series starts to properly take form rather than being a jumbled mess of disparate elements, it does lose that sense of suspense and intrigue. Still really liked it though, especially that ending sequence. 8/10

  • Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Rei: 2 joke arcs and the epilogue. They were pretty fun. Rika in her Bernkastel voice is always a treat. Also chair to face. 8/10

  • Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kira: 4 jokes arcs and they're pretty Happy Lucky Dochy. The last one was surprisingly heartwarming. 8/10

  • Promare: Hype as fuck action sequences but not much substance. Made me wanna watch Kill la Kill again. 7/10

  • Jinrui ha Suitai Shimashita: My favourite genre. A blend of comfy-surreal-satire that's also really funny. Wished it had gone on for longer or fully adapted its material with a special OVA. For that final plot twist. 8/10

  • Wakaba Girl: Cute adorable Kirara. 7 minutes also means it doesn't overstay its welcome. 6/10

  • Sabagebu: After all this time, I finally went and completed this anime, wanting to savour every last second of it and not wanting it to end previously. Easily the best comedy anime I have ever seen and the best shoujo anime to boot. Momoka a best and we need more protagonists like her. 8/10

  • Rolling Girls: It was fine, but the first two arcs were a real drag. Covers were great and the art was beautiful, but ultimately forgettable. To be expected, the girls are all Mob Characters to begin with after all. 5/10

  • Fragtime: Pretty boring seishun romance drama with a gimmick that's barely used. Could use less inner monologuing too. 4/10

  • Maria Holic (both seasons): Great comedy series that stopped being a Class S parody early on. If I were to describe it, it's like a toned-down SZS with much of the same cast. Mariya's great especially as a foil to Kanako. The ending to Season 2 was incredibly cruel though. I thought endings like these are forbidden by Tezuka-sensei? 7/10

  • Katte ni Kaizou: The evolution from weird dick jokes to SZS-lite is astounding and Shaft captured this perfectly in their adaptation. Umi's descent into insanity is great. 8/10

  • Paniponi Dash!: Mahoho Maho Maho Mahohohoho~ Mahohoho Maho Maho Mahohohoi~ Mahoho Mahohohoiii~ Mahoho Maho Maho Mahohoho~ 8/10

  • Magikano: It's Seto no Hanayome lite. But SnH lite is still better than most comedies out there, it even has Masa-san in it! The blend of shitty girls doing shitty things to each other works really well and is a trademark of Kishi Seiiji's other comedies, which show up in its earnest here. It does lack the dichotomy SnH had with its adult cast, which does make things less interesting overall. Still, a really enjoyable comedy series nonetheless. 7/10

  • Arakawa Under the Bridge (both seasons): I don't know why, but this reminded me of Maria Holic so much somehow. While it does take a few episodes to establish its cast of characters to really get going, the show has been immensely fun even if it's relatively grounded compared to a lot of Shaft's comedies. 7/10

  • Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru: It took me 10 episodes, but I finally understood what the title means. 8/10

  • Sasami-san@Ganbaranai: Kinda weird but pretty fun show with a bunch of Shinto mythology references. Felt kinda empty though. 7/10

  • Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko: Pretty fine but seriously lacking in focus. It needed more emphasis on Yashiro and Erio I feel. Still it's well animated and flows reasonably well and is quite comfy. 6/10

  • Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu: An amazing comedy with a unique non-linear broadcast order that makes rewatches fun. 8/10

  • Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu: ... 8/10

  • Strike Witches 1,2,Movie: Really fun show with some good fanservice. Really wished they bothered properly giving the plot some focus. Erica Maji Tenshi. 7/10

  • Strike Witches: Operation Victory Arrow: A good counterpart to the movie focusing on the rest of the 501 who isn't Yoshika. But still, the real strength of SW is when the whole gang is together. 7/10

  • Strike Witches 501 Butai Hasshin Shimasu: SU-GOI YOSHIKA ERICA-CHAN! 8/10

  • Seto no Hanayome:

    9/10

  • Ore Twintail ni Narimasu:

    7/10

  • Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (all seasons):

    9/10

  • Hidamari Sketch (all seasons):

    9/10

  • Azumanga Daioh:

    9/10

  • Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou:

    8/10

  • Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart:

    8/10 (it's also genuinely funny)
