Since it looks like my taglist has gotten much larger than the last update, this is a quick breakdown of the more uncommon ones:
[A work in progress]
Arranged by Letter:
A-C
A
Aesthetics - (Shortened from 'Aestheticism' to make typing it easier). Heavy focus on perceived expectations; especially related to art-style, auditory sensations, mood, and setting. Put simple, it's that extra element which makes a piece of work that much better, and gives it a special feeling that's not easily replicated. Can be invoked consciously (1001 Nights ) or unconsciously ( Honey & Clover) B
C
Contemporary - Indicates that part, or most of the story features a modern-day, psuedo-urban setting, or what would pass for 'modern-day' within the story's setting. Note that the year does not necessarily reflect on the tag's usage in that case. One of the best-known examples of this tag would be Yotsuba&!, and Azumanga Daioh
Contrast with 'Historical'
D-F
D
Dark Ambience - Typically present in most traditional Gothic settings, this tag is used for works with a noticeably dreary feel to it. Expect lots of pessimistic themes and concepts. One of the best examples of dark ambience can be found in the Berserk manga
E
F
Female/Male Protagonist(s) - For the majority of the story focuses on a single character of the specified gender. Usually, there would either be a male protagonist or a female protagonist
Some special cases (and the tags that go with them):
Female Protagonist, Male Protagonist- For stories that put a near-equal focus on 2 characters of both genders
Female Protagonists - The story focuses equally on 2 or more female characters
Male Protagonists - The story focuses equally on 2 or more male characters
Female Protagonists, Male Protagonists - A combination of the above 2 tags
G-I

H
Historical - Used for works set in the past (pre-2000 A.D.)
May be used along with a more specific period tag (Victorian, Meiji, etc.) I
J-L
J
Josei - Used to indicate both the demographic and content. Said to be the mature form of Shojo and female equivalent of Seinen, manga/anime with this tag usually contains socially mature themes (sometimes much moreso than Seinen) with an emphasis on romance and/or relationships. Expect lots of drama, tragedy, and gripping realism K

Male/Female Protagonist(s) - For the majority of the story focuses on a single character of the specified gender.
Minna - Used for works that appeal equally to the 4 major demographics (Josei, Seinen, Shojo, Shonen).

Romance - Since this is a tag so commonly-used, it's split into a few sub-tags
Romance - The umbrella tag
Romance? - Some kind of attraction is present, but whether it receives significant emphasis, or is present out of necessity, is uncertain
Romance+ - Noticeable romantic plot
Romance- - Horrible attempt at a romantic plot
Pre-romance - The couple(s) involved are not a couple until rather late in the series
Post-romance - The couple(s) involved are a couple early on in the series
S
School & School Life - Both tags are used for series that feature a school setting, however-
School Life refers to series with prominent focus on the school setting and its daily routines (as a
rule of thumb, at least 50-60%), while
School refers to series where it is a minor focus (about 30-40% or less), and other settings are equally, or more prominent
For example, Plastic Nee-san would get the School Life tag, due to most of its chapters taking place at school, while Watashitachi no Tamura-kun would get the School tag, due to there being more Slice of Life elements in addition to the school setting

Tragedy - Expect lots of losses; Sad endings, main character deaths, emotional and physical suffering, you name it. Not one of the more popular genres out there U
