What the FUCK is the guy's obsession with every main character sympathetic female who is the centerpiece of the adventure being like the exact same fucking looking with the same brown hair and nearly identical faces, except like Nausicaa where I think it was a redhead.

Yeah I don't get it either. But it's more than Studio Ghibli. Anime in general has this obsession with average short-haired girls with curious personalities going on larger than life adventures.
