The tag on this entry says "boring", but I can't remember watching 7 episodes. At most I remember watching 2 episodes.<br /> <br /> Written June 28, 2016<br /> <br /> Second watch:<br /> Start: June 28, 2016<br /> <br /> Episode 1:<br /> <br /> I am alarmed, because there seem to be a lot of episodes. There's a "Special" series too. I don't quite know what that is. Something is weird with this anime too. Because it jumps from humor to extremely serious. I can't tell when to take it serious or if something is humor. It's a bit odd and concerning. Makes me kinda revolted. If someone treated you that way, you'd walk away from them.<br /> <br /> It's really gory too. The humor is a black humor. I'm not sure it jives with me. Kinda sadistic. Unlikable characters.<br /> <br /> Episode 2:<br /> The battle sequences are over the top. This doesn't seem like an anime made for adults... The setting. Something is wrong with the setting. The weapons, the characters, etc. They don't go together. This would be interesting to study in a university class or so. Why does this series feel so disjointed.<br /> <br /> Episode 5:<br /> The series is picking up. Characters are coming alive.<br /> <br /> Hmmm... I waited until near the ending to comment. At episode 21, I was going to go to give this an 8/10 for being one great anime. Not a 10/10, because I find it too dark and depressing. It's a pretty sad series.<br /> <br /> Anyway, the main character dies. There's a lot of "trump" card, teigu stuff that happens. It's just so random. The battles. There are so many battles. This is just the type of series that it is. Rewatch value is super low, because of all the trump cards and such. For some reason, it is a surprise when characters die. For example, the main character that the whole anime centers around dies and we're left with a boring character named Akame. And she foreshadows this at the beginning. So it was all a part of the director's plan for the series. She says something like the last group of assassins she was in everyone died except for her. The same thing happens in Night Raid :).<br /> <br /> Overall, pretty tragic, dark and depressing series. I haven't watched the ending yet. Not sure what they're going to show in the last 10 minutes. They made clear that no one can come back from the dead in this anime (in an earlier episode.)<br /> <br /> I wish they had focused on common folk life some more. I feel like parts of the setting were missing. There were a lot of characters and we got a lot of their perspectives. Some of the characters were pointless like the 4 demons. Most of the characters had mental conditions. Weird stuff as usual.<br /> <br /> This anime begins with a classic case of the crimes of the poor getting excessive punishment, while the crimes of the rich go without punishment. This the number 1 reason for all revolution. Societies cannot exist without equitable law. They enter chaos.<br /> <br /> Many of the side characters take center focus in the end.<br /> <br /> At the end Akame has the little wooden statue that she stabbed when she attacked Tatsumi. This is an intricate story. The plot has so many threads. So much is going on. There is so much symbolism and foreshadowing. What a CRAZY director.<br /> <br /> They even make reference to Night Raid being erased from historical records in the new kingdom.<br /> <br /> It seems that Akame leaves the kingdom for a new adventure. The ending is a teaser for more to come. That there will be a new story with Akame in it.<br /> <br /> Cool. Was it worth the watch? Sure, I guess. It's pretty sad. Not bad though. 8/10.<br /> <br /> Finished watching this on Canada Day. I had watched a bunch of episodes the night before. I pretty much binge watched this. It's really powerful. All the characters that passed away. There is no sequel, even though room was "left" for one (continuation of Akame's adventures.) Though it did hint that Akame is going to die too. She was scarred with the demon blades curse.<br /> <br /> The reviews on this anime are hilarious, lots of people hate it. It's funny :)<br /> <br /> Regardless, not 100% sure I had have watched that. I don't know what to take away from that series. I strongly suggest that you do not rewatch this series. #comments |

Short. Interesting.
Characters that are actual human beings. No modern horny beta automatons. Or narcissistic retard femdom morons. Main character looks like Jojo LOL the one guy is a robot Terminator. Jojo. Cool. Love it. So this is why I liked anime as a kid. Makes sense. LOL the explosions and death scenes. I have laughed more from these animes from the 80s than anything from 2010+ The short runtime means there are no wasted scenes. Something is wrong with modern anime. I can't put my finger on. Why is this stuff so uplifting and enjoyable. Modern anime is depressing. Don't feel worthwhile. Makes me feel bad after watching a show. Good guys win. Live happily ever after. |

Claymore
First watch:
On Episode 5 so far. Claymore has been amazing. On Episode 11. it's a 10/10 so far. Episode 17 started to go downhill, because it just became battle after battle. Nearing the end of the series and still no resolution in sight. Episode 20. Claire or Rocky is going to die. I can feel it. Maybe in typical anime fashion, they'll come back to life. Though many of the characters I have grown to love will die in this series. Episode 23. Battle after battle after battle. Doesn't end. What's the point of just making a series about non-stop battles. Episode 24. This one of the great shows ever created, but they ran out of budget. Claymore should had been a 50 episode epic split in 2 seasons, with much more than battle after battle. Started to fast forward through the last four episodes. In particular episodes 24, 25 and 26. Episode 26. Meh. Just another dead end. Other than that, this was a beautiful anime. No panty shots, no stupid bullshit. Great story, great setting, great characters. Rocky never becomes a warrior like in the intro of the first few episodes. Ends with Rocky and Claire reunited and the sun coming out from the clouds. Reminds me of Ergo Proxy, where the clouds open up. The ending is pretty nice, but I had to watch it in 480p on Youtube rather than 1080p HEVC 10bit. Finished at roughly 6:30pm. After dinner. It was a Sunday. I watched 1/2 of the anime on the weekend. This was during a time when I was sleeping early. Overall was let down, by the lack of funding provided for Claymore and the abrupt turn of events and long drawn ending. There was so much more potential. This is the greatest anime that could had been, but never came to be. Watching reviews and they seem to agree on the same points. The anime diverges from the manga, because the manga was not complete while the anime was running. Maybe I'm just getting bored of anime again or something, but I'm having trouble staying interested.<br /> <br /> Episode 13:<br /> Odd start to the episode... the mastermind is pretty unreasonable. Yeah, she's mental.<br /> <br /> Anyway... they go through a trial, blah, blah. It feels like this was originally a video game. One of those visual novel games or whatever. I was interested in seeing what the world outside of the school looked like, but the anime decided to stop when the doors opened.<br /> <br /> This was okay. It centered around the classroom trials, mystery of murders, etc. It really wasn't my thing, but it wasn't a bad anime. It's just a kinda genre that I'm not that interested in. For some reason they picked the high school setting. It was just odd all around. Weird stuff. As usual. But not insanely weird. Not like Future Diary or anything.<br /> <br /> It wasn't overly complicated or anything. You could notice the hints too. It felt like you could had been the main character and figured out some of the challenges. Pretty interesting that you could make an anime that feels like a video game and keeps the viewer engaged in that manner.<br /> <br /> All the mastermind kills them self, by running them self through a "punishment" just as they did for the other characters. It symbolic that the punishment that malfunctions for the main character (protagonist) is the one that kills the mastermind (antagonist). There's quite a bit of symbolism through out, though it doesn't foreshadow as much as you'd expect for an anime of its kind.<br /> <br /> Normally mystery animes will drop many clues and foreshadow the ending, this one doesn't. The premise is far fetched though. I believe this show was made for teenagers and that's probably why I didn't enjoy it.<br /> <br /> Meh. 7/10. (Because I'm feeling like a nice guy)<br /> <br /> Low to no rewatch value.<br /> <br /> WHOA! I didn't know there's a sequel. That's interesting. Not much to comment on. There's a lot of fan service. For some reason it didn't bother me. The show was pretty good, because its setting and atmosphere were really well done and the main characters were likeable. Everything jived pretty well together.<br />

Rewatch: Episode 1: 2020-08-28 Mysterious Episode 2: 2020-08-29 Such minor dialogue reveals so much. This show is very much show rather than tell. The characters don't speak as much as you'd think and there's no inner narration that we're accustomed to in other animes. Episode 3: 2020-08-29 The countess set them up? She's feigning kindness, but ends up forceful. You can tell from her personality that she isn't warm and people don't like her. She feigns kindness as manipulation. What else is she hiding? |

July 3, 2016<br /> <br /> Episode 1:<br /> The beginning is what... the opening is like a Promotional Video or something. This is the weirdest opening, hyper music, almost like they wanted to make a movie trailer. I guess it's different from your usual anime openings. Weird stuff... okay.<br /> What the hell, this is basically a trailer, showing the protagonists and antagonist (or what I assume) already in the first 3 minutes.<br /> <br /> He starts off saying some girl died, wishing he could see her again, then 30 seconds later we see the girl grown up... So anti-climatic. The first 4 minutes are just. bleh. School boy writing.<br /> <br /> The main character is a little bitch. These annoying ass pussy main characters piss me off so much. Okay. Bed time.<br /> <br /> Watched episode 1. BORING.<br /> <br /> Episode 11:<br /> Was completely wrong about the main character. He's not a bitch.<br /> <br /> Watched on my new TV. This is a good show.<br /> <br /> Episode 13:<br /> Great characters. Great show. Great ending. This is awesome.<br /> <br /> I really liked all the twists and turns. It's not worth a rewatch though.<br /> <br /> The ecchi was okay, because it was possible. It fit into the setting and the main character really made the anime shine. Usually the male protaganist is a poor, weak character, with super natural powers or is completely useless. This was a different case. All the initial thoughts on this anime were incorrect. I expected it to be filled with cliques, poor character design, awful plot, etc. That was not the case at all. This anime even went as far as to wrap up in 13 episodes. No cliff hanger. It was a bit of a sad ending, but nothing too heart wrenching. We were left with hope. Hope for the characters and their dreams. We were left with their dreams to live on and create memorable lives. Lives beyond themselves. Lives were they excel beyond the limits they would had set on themselves had they lived normally. The characters knew where they came from and decided they'd never take anything for granted because of it. This anime was all about how you could lose whatever is dearest to you at any moment and how you could come to regret all of it. Let us not forget.<br /> <br /> Overall, great anime. Normally I'd give it a 10/10, but for some reason I'm feeling a 8/10. This is mostly because the beginning wasn't as great as expected. Usual high school setting, etc. Boring characters. Really like this anime, but it's starting to get boring as it's coming to an end without anything major in sight. There's no ephiphany or climax in the story. It's just watching some people learn, grow and resolve their differences in a world they have to become stronger in. It's their daily grind if you could call it that. So far it's okay. I like the older male character. He's mature, down to earth, poor, etc. He's an average guy. Divorced and with a son. The premise is a little odd though. It's hard to enter suspension of belief. Interesting story. Not set in high school and targeting an older audience. Though completely unrealistic. Hence why it's an anime. From notes. Episode 6 it's okay so far. The premise does not make sense, but whatever. It is somewhat realistic. Episode 9 Having a decent time watching this. The older man Kondo is fun and father like. I wouldn't mind having had him as a father. Father which I never had. This show is not about the romance between a girl and man. This is about the loss forced onto a man and women that have to give up on their dreams. One wanted to be a novelist and the other a runner. What a beautiful story. They gave up, but the dream still alive within them. It burns as a small flame waiting for additional fuel and oxygen. This is actually of the most emotional and best series I have seen in quite sometime. Kondo makes the series as I can actually relate to him, unlike other characters in the majority of animes. Sometimes it just takes another person to provide the fuel and oxygen to ignite a flame within. Other times it has to come from within. > "Maybe it was my enthusiasm, but words used to come naturally back then" - Kondo > "just hearing about career paths gives me stomach pains" - This is an odd quote to hear, since the only thing going well in my life is my career path. I wonder what it'd be like for that to be in shambles too. Could I even imagine a life where even my career was failing. I am fortunate. It's great how Kondo kinda becomes a father figure. Not quite sure I understand the ending, but my mind kind of wandered near the end. Konda writes a novel titled "After the Rain". The rain displays near the end in a showing of symbolism with sunlight that shines through. #comments |

This is a really dark and depressing series and drags on for a lot of episodes. Not sure I'd want to watch it again. The animation was pretty well done in the beginning though. For some reason I had to finish it. Overall it wasn't worth the watch if you'd asked me again. Rewatch value is extremely low, because this series relies on too many plot twists. Also, it's insanely difficult to try to like the characters in the series. Literally all the characters die, except two and those two are not likable. You mostly spend the series feeling sorry them, which is not fun. TECHNICALLY. It's not a completely sad ending as a Yuno shows up in the last 30 seconds. I assume she's from the 3rd dimension. Weird. Just weird. #not_fun, comments #weird... Rewatched: April 18, 2020 to April 22, 2020 Finished at 2:47AM. Today (April 21, 2020.) It's actually the 22nd, but I haven't slept yet. I had a pay cut at work. They cut 401k matching. There will probably be layoffs. Who knows. This show was beautiful. One of the saddest animes ever created. Honestly. This anime was way ahead of its time. Underrated. One of the best anime ever made. I will give this 10/10. It is about relationships with CPTSD and PTSD in general. It's about mental health. And in some sense a character that'd never exist. Yuno Gaisai. She's based on a male archetype. And I relate to her more than any other character in the series. Yuuki isn't a bad character. He's interesting. But Yuno is more relatable. Even if that makes me sad. That I relate to a sociopath. She's one of the great characters of anime. It's odd how she's so repulsive, yet so likable at the same time. Where as in real life, I have zero like for the majority of sociopaths or narcissists or other individuals that I meet with various mental ailments. She's relatable and hence I understand where she's coming from. Even if I know that a female version of such character would never exist. This makes sense if you replace her with a male. Yuuki wouldn't make sense as a female character. But let's assume you changed his gender too. Many men are extremely infatuated, protective, etc. It explains why a lot of women get scared at modern "love". If you've got a crazy guy chasing you, with serious issues. That's infatuated with you. I could see how you could get annoyed or even scared. Just as Yuuki views Yuno. He constantly has to question why she likes him. Which makes sense. Because the story never explains why. Because that's not how codependency works. There is no why. We simply see someone and follow for them. We build a story around them. It's the main facet of codependency. I feel like the Yuno in so many relationships. Traumatized by my past. It comes out. Not in violence. But in an inability to express myself. A severe co-dependence. It spills out. Leaks everywhere. Floods everything. Drives people away. And there's nothing to make them stay. I genuinely feel bad for these characters. This show is the story of life. How we want something so badly. And we don't get it. Or even when we get it and we're happy, we die. Everything is temporary. And this story was about transcending that. Maybe your dream could come true. But for some reason it's so sad. Hope is the essence of sadness. Without failing to achieve what you hope for, why should you be sad? When you can accept the reality in front of you. The inability to accept reality causes so much suffering. So one reason for all this grief is that this unlocks the emotional state of my youth. I originally watched this in 2016. 2016 was one of, if not, the worst year in my life. This is reignites the emotional state from then. And... that explains the sadness and melancholy. I actually feel sick watching this. It puts me back in the same state of despair, grief, loss and guilt that was so present at that time. The hopelessness. Because this anime is in a sense about hopelessness. The inability to reconcile what should be and what actually is. If I wasn't such a bottled up emotionally, I would cry now. But guess I can't. It's okay. FUCK LOST MY COMMENT WROTE A BUNCH OF SHIT FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT ACCIDENTALLY CLICKED TRYING TO FOCUS THE FUCKING TEXTBOX Uhh... Yuki rules the world. The game is over. Everyone is happy. Including the 2nd version of Yuno. After a thousand years, the 3rd Yuno comes to see Yuuki in the netherworld. Anyway. That was so depressing. I think it aged me a couple of years. There's so much pain bottled up. This anime reminded of that. Of my past. Of what happened. How parts of me died. And are in another world I guess. I know that I not whole at the moment. Because parts of me that I cherished are gone. Things about me that I loved. Are missing. They're not here anymore. I think fear and guilt take them away. Maybe one day I'll be able to feel all the pain. Start again. Maybe one I'll let go. Let go of all of it. Because this really is a beautiful world. Filled with beautiful people. |

Mima gets in the car and says "I am the real Mima".<br /> <br /> There is no allusion to Mima having committed the crimes or Rumi-chan being wrongly accused. Rumi is insane, she sees herself as the real Mima.<br /> <br /> This series is still a mind bender, I'd like to understand more about what's going on and why certain scenes happened. Normally I have a lot to say about an anime. I'd have written an essay on this anime, but for some reason it never came to mind.<br /> <br /> Instead I watched as much as I could. I was going through a hypothyroidism spree and could not stay awake for many hours. After work I'd arrive home, do my chores, read and watch two or three hours of Re:Zero. My bus rides were further filled with reading some of the greatest works I have seen in my life. I started on Thursday. Felt like it took many more days, but on Saturday, I was at episode 21.<br /> <br /> One of the episodes really hit me. Subaru had a speech on the failure he was and always would be. I have been feeling this for quite some time. Success is always outside of grasp, but I can see it, in the distant fog.<br /> <br /> This anime has been heavily symbolic. I assumed it'd turn into a harem, but it was nothing of the sort. I assumed I would be trolled and stupidity would ensue, but nothing of the sort. Instead we saw a character take responsibility. Enchant others through his charisma. A character that lifted up all of those around them. "You cannot attract flies with vinegar" said a wiseman.<br /> <br /> Subaru proved this to us. And by doing so, gave us a great lesson.<br /> <br /> Episode 25:<br /> The ending has Subaru confess his love. That's it. Nothing dramatic. It ends saying "That's all this story is about". Followed by a blank credits screen, which is unlike the anime series.<br /> <br /> Subaru technically has "no skills", but he's actually an amazing salesman. He's a super star salesman. He sells everyone on his goals and dreams. He makes people love him. I believe that's the morale of this story. You should go out of your way to be social, etc<br /> <br /> This anime is special. The way episodes are staged. The credits showing far more details. It seems they really took pride in this anime. I bet we're going to see a lot of animes copying many of these concepts.<br /> <br /> Now, would I watch this anime if I could rewind time and had the chance? No. Why? Because it was actually kinda boring. 25 episodes and it ended up where the beginning started. Nothing really happens. Why did he even end up in this new world. They teased the viewer. I kinda feel like I was taking for a ride without any control over the steering wheel. I was pushed through a whole series with little understanding of any of the loose ends or what happened. I basically have to fill in the blanks in my own mind, but it's pointless, because this anime doesn't follow any conventional norms. It's difficult to predict. The anime starts to get kinda boring, especially when the employees get involved and we start going through the backstories of each of the characters. The characters seem to be beyond damaged goods. Not gonna lie. Enjoyed this show. The protagonist is the male equivalent of a Mary Sue. Completely over the top.
Many of the scenes came out of no where. Was fine. Could do without some of the parts though. They added nothing to the OVA. They could had made it funny. But instead it was just attempting to make the main character super masculine. Guess they succeeded. It's interesting to watch older content. Honestly. The story is more interesting than 90% of modern anime. So are the characters. I can't give this a 100%, because it's just too over the top. The hand drawn art is awesome. I miss shows like this. And this one is well done. Idk. I could go on. This show is really memorable. I'll probably start watching older anime. Because the modern shows are messed up. The character development and character interactions in modern anime is unnatural. It's fantasy. But it succeeds in being uninteresting. This show isn't like that. The men and even women of the past. Were much more interesting than today. The seemed more individualistic, unique. With less external influence. They seemed healthier than the people and characters you see in anime, tv, real life, etc. today. Sometimes I miss the 90s. Something's wrong with today. There's a lot wrong with the modern era. I cannot put it exactly into words. There's so much wrong. When I look at older shows, there's more than nostalgia. There's longing for easier days. |

He could had been Spike or Geoff from Cowboy Bebop, instead he's a freaking anti-social, stiff, iron rod up rear end robot. Nothing about him is portrayed as human.<br /> <br /> No wonder this anime is throwing me off. This seems to be a slice of life with a story slapped on to it. The setting is getting tiresome, because it's not being used. There's little to interaction with the society that these characters are a part of. Everything seems so barren and empty.<br /> <br /> The characters are without motive. They have no reason for existence.
