I stumbled upon Buddha Saitan (Rebirth of Buddha in English) on YouTube. If you are interested in watching this as well, I suggest looking it up on YouTube because I did a quick Google search and could not find a reputable streaming site hosting it. Beware though: The version uploaded to YouTube is dubbed, however still has subtitles. So if you can't handle the unfortunate (but not unbearable) dubbed voices you are just going to have to turn off its sound.

The story follows 17 year old school girl Sayako who dreams of becoming a journalist. One day at a train station she sees a ghost ...

The reviews here are mostly just bull.
Finishing the film 3 days ago, it's fresh in my mind, so let me enlighten you with a true review.

The story starts off simple but then goes its own direction with the introduction of plot twists, religious perspectives and its referral or continuation to The Laws Of The Sun (watch that before you watch this film).

Despite not being an official sequel to the animated film mentioned above, this anime draws its ideas from it and references it using its actual scenes - so in a way, it's a sequel to that story.

What's wrong with the story being "too religious"? ...

Pretty much just the worst anime I've ever seen. It's not just religious propaganda, it misrepresents Buddhism and skepticism at the same time. There are no such things such as demons or evil spirits in Buddhism. The "possession" idea is purely a medieval Christian invention. It's downright disgusting that they would cast the "Buddha" as an exorcist. Buddhism is about self-control, as in, control of your own mind - to avoid thinking and acting mindlessly and instead practice mindfulness, being aware of your own thoughts, etc.

But actually, the main problem I have with this anime is that it doesn't have any good violence scenes. ...

This is a cult movie. Seriously.

And I don't mean a movie with a cult following, I mean a movie directly connected with a current Japanese cult, created to spread it's screwed up propaganda.

And trust me it's not the only one either. There are others just like it tied directly back to the same cult as well.

I came across this movie around maybe 6 years ago on vacation with my family in the middle of the night while scrolling on youtube. Since I was pretty new to the whole anime thing and would literally watch whatever I got my hands on, legal or youtube-wise, I ...

Mixed Feelings
This movie seems overdone in my opinion. This movie feels like it was written by Christians because if you watch the movie, if you know something about the Buddhism, the religion is based off meditation and not lecture. Its like if the writers realized that 98% of the population of Japan is not Christian and then they said "That's not Jesus, its... Buddha!" Don't believe me, take the transcript of the movie and replace Buddha with Jesus and any Buddhist reference and replace it with Christian References and it would make since, in fact better since because Buddhism doesn't have giant mega church. ...

Though this anime was pretty much religion it sorta made me believe in the buddha even though it confused. This anime is surprisingly persuasive. The plot of the story I actually enjoyed it though you may find it a bit cheesy.
