If you found the plot too convoluted and want the show to focus on the cool characters and wacky fights, with a conspiracy plot in the background (rather than being the main focus), then Revenger is for you. The MC is pretty much the opposite to Origasa, but similar in power level. Basically, if you liked the white-haired samurai's squad and want an anime centered around them, it's basically Revenger.

Fictionalised depictions of 1870s Japan in the aftermath of the Boshin War and Meiji period. Moreso in Rurouni Kenshin which mixes loosely inspired characters (Himura Kenshin from Kawakami Gensai, for example). Both feature important historical figures from the period like Fujita Gorō and Ōkubo Toshimichi, Meiji 1874 additionally features foreigners like John Henry Schnell and Max Brandt.
