Dianqi Shaonu

This show is still airing as I'm writing this, but I had a strong impression so I can't wait for it to finish XD.

From the premise I thought this was a cliche "magic girlfriend appears" show in the tradition of Ah My Goddess or Chobits, but it's actually more like a wholesome younger brother-older sister relationship.

He feels down because he's poor and doesn't have friends, so she finds ways to support him with the errands despite her faulty wiring and short battery. It's probably inspired by folktales about house yokai who can be good or wicked depending if you respect them or not. In short ... this show's theme is family loyalty.

I can feel a lot of love put into the illustration and it feels more mature than the Chinese anime I've seen so far. This show was clearly someone's passion project and it also has a strong cultural flavor to it. For example, the boy has a fondness for fermented food, mung beans, and other healthy regional stuff I had to look up on Wikipedia, and there's a lot of instances of people recycling or repairing things rather than just throwing them away. I really like it, this might be the tipping point that turns me Chinaboo.
