My Journey in an alternate world is an isekai anime where Chen Xiaofan, a modern day teenager is transported into the martial arts world after swallowing a pill carried by White Tiger (Spirit Beast). Chen Xiaofan is reincarnated into the young master of Muyun City's Chen family under the same name; Previously known for being a trash cultivator with no affinity to martial arts, Xiaofan was forced to be the front man of his family's business receiving guests and customers. However, after reincarnating into the trash cultivator's body Xiaofan is now able to cultivate and grow as a martial artist with the White tiger spirit

beast as his companion. Xiaofan's journey is riddled with competition and rivalry among the youth of Muyun City's major families. Does Chen Xiaofan have what it takes to come out on top?
Story & Character: 3/10
Cultivation Cultivation Cultivation. This story is riddled with cultivation and more cultivation. The meaning behind this is Chen Xiaofan begins cultivating but once he achieves a renowned feat worthy of praise his comrades belittle his achievements which only forces Xiaofan to go and cultivate more; Inevitably forcing the comrades to cultivate too. This spirals out of control in an endless cycle of Xiaofan being stuck in the cultivation room grinding cultivation levels; In the middle of an important mission? Cultivate. In the middle of a bathroom break? Cultivate. On your last breath? Cultivate. This style of development acts as a comedic device but it halts any and all character or story progression by forcing Xiaofan back into the Chen family's cultivation room. As a result, later throughout the series only the few closest characters that influenced his growth are remotely developed; In the latter quarter of the series when more important characters are introduced they feel very superficial and added for immediate gratification because of their insignificance to the actual story. This series is an example of repetition ruining the storytelling and character development.
Art & Sound: 4/10
Art & animation of this series could be improved, the character rigging felt choppy especially in scenes with a lot of movement. If you see even the beast animal like that King level forest beast in the latter quarter of the series, its movement is so unnatural it literally has the character rigging of a humanoid character once it stands up and walks. The characters have hair physics especially unimportant side characters so that is a surprise to see every once in a while. Beyond that, the details in clothing are the only attractive features of this series as they are very detailed and colorful; The female character design is good quality and has independent animation too.
Sound is passable, the background music is suitable to the mood of each scene. Sound effects are used sparingly in action scenes and scenes with intense dialogue. The voice acting is of decent quality and work with each character.
Overall & Enjoyment: 4/10
For a power cultivation series it was enjoyable but it was difficult to look past the downsides of this series as they delayed any meaningful progression. Overall pacing was the saving grace of this series, My Journey in an alternate world uses plot elements like time skip and fast forwarding to skip useless scenes like cultivation or waiting between important events. I would have enjoyed a proper enemy in this series as even toward the end there weren't real enemies that grew with Xiaofan as a rival/villain from the beginning.
