Jouran: The Princess of Snow and Blood

Both anime have similar styles in animation. The story is quite matching about the MC revenging for his family. In Jouran, they are fighting Nues, while in demon slayer is on the more comedy side.  

The setting is very similar: early 20th century japan and the characters have powers, gifts, or talents. 

The art styles are both thick as well as the animations. The story is a bit the same as well but one is on the Edo period and one is on a game.

It's related in many ways, plus not forgetting to talk about the mystery surrounding both anime shown. I really recommend it. 

Kara no Kyoukai second movie resembled a lot in this spring 2021 show. Despite going for the first movie as, naturally, I would go, I've choose to recommend KnK 2 simply because of two main factors: is, in the chronological order, the first one and, in terms directly linked with Jouran, the very atmosphere of the second title is kind of vivid: cold and unusual. Kara no Kyoukai (the garden of sinners), spoil free, deals with unnatural concepts and, important to be said, very eerie and that's also, undisputable, related to the MC: Ryougi Shiki. Shiki is really similar to the main character of Jouran- both seems to be connected with the mystics and, appearance by itself, the two characters are really into the classic japanese woman's portrait, being the kimono, their main piece. Speaking up to the story, I couldn't really get into the fictional world "what if" of Jouran yet but, even so, the very ways the protagonist deals with conflict seems close to Ryougi's- a lone wolf despite that, in the future, she start to accept the presence of others while dealing with troublesome situations, even if is strictly related to herself. In short, if you're looking for edgy looking anime with some dark roots and mystery genres, both seems really likely to you have fun with it. read more 

Young girl witnesses murder of her family, swears revenge. Both anime are quite violent and take place in similar setting of past Japan, although visibly different era, yet still gives off similar vibe. 

Bith have a main character that have a special blood and fights with a sword. Both are a important figure as main character in each animes. 

Takes place in the same time period (only 8 years difference) in a fictional version of Japan with supernatural elements. Both have powers based on blood (vampires in Mars Red). Both have cool fight scenes 

Both have alternate history settings. Princess Principal is an early 20th century steampunk Britain divided into two nations, Jouran is Meiji era Japan if the Tokugawa shogunate never lost power. Both series cast feature intrigue and secret agents, as well as a mysterious resource that allows the nations to thrive and dominate.  

Both take place in the Edo era and are very Action-heavy and also somehow political in their own world. They fight mainly with swords but also with Supernatural powers. They have identical OSTs, a great animation-style and the whole dark atmosphere is very similar. Also in both shows, revenge is a big theme. If you liked Katanagatari, you'd also be interested in Jouran.  

Similar themes about revenge, the progression seems similar. Although Revenger seems a bit more lighthearted while Jouran takes on a more serious note right from the get go.
