Given the other reviews, I dared not give it an 8 like I was going to.

I agree with some points of the other reviews: how the stories don't go anywhere, how the characters are somewhat generic, how at points it can get a bit cringe/uncomfortable.

But, to me, these are part of what make the movie nice. It might take a certain perspective to see this, and I will try to outline mine.

First, you should not see this as some drama celebrating lgbt+. This is a slice of life, with romance. When you think the characters are bland, it could just be that they ... succeeded in making them approachable people you'd meet in real life. If you feel the stories are too common place, slice of life might not be for you. The point is to appreciate those little moments of ordinary romances. And by that, one might take it as a silent tribute to lgbt+. I'm not going back on my previous words: the point is, the stories treat same-sex relationships as any other common place relationship instead of celebrating them as special.

Second, the moments to note are the struggles. They are generic as mentioned, but nonetheless great. They are portrayed really subtly, and all the more rewarding and wholesome to witness, at least for me. The moment a girl is told that her ex from high school is getting married; the moment a guy sees another who looks like someone who might have expressed romantic interest in him, but disappeared from his life before it became clear; the moment a primary school couple is introduced to porn early (by an attractive relative acting in it), and face their sexuality in secret. Rights, I may have used 'moment' loosely and just snuck in a summary of the stories. But, the point is, each of the story shows some struggle, and will end with some change in the main characters' lives: behaviourally, they are miniscule, almost insignificant for others around them; but for us viewers, who have shared parts of their journey and peeked into their struggles, we get to appreciate the big mental steps forward they have taken.

Finally, a tad more about it as a work of animation to justify the rating. If you see the cast, there's no way the voice acting wouldn't be great. Granted, the music and art are not awe-inspiring, but, very fitting for the slice of life genre.

All in all, a nice short movie to watch.

I'm writing this review after watching this movie for the second time.
The first time I finished it, it was so bland that I didn't even remember watching it. Nothing about it stood out to me, the art was pretty but extremely simple. There is no plot either. The characters lead a mundane life and naturally give me no thrill either. If this came out in the cinema, I wouldn't watch it.
But I watched it on a very casual day, eating my dinner alone and worrying about my exam results. I didn't have any anticipations, any expectations or any need to be entertained. The ... movie kept playing in the background and I had the time to think about myself. I found myself thinking 'That happened with me too.' and I didn't feel anything. The movie ended as soon as I finished my dinner (I must've been eating that meal very slowly, now that I think about it.) but it was okay. It was a nice distraction.
Halfway through the film I realized I've already watched it once before. Honestly, I'll forget about this movie again, probably and then return to it thinking it's a cute lgbtq+ film. And then I'll binge it again on another mundane day in my life and think, 'Wow, my memory is really bad. This is the third time.' Or maybe I'll be watching it with someone else, and they'll laugh at me for my bad memory.
This movie was no cinematic masterpiece, but it is worth a watch on a holiday with nothing better to do.

Man i really don't understand why it's rated so low, the work and the short story is so good ,the ending was perfect, the themes of the story was so good(me straight) but it goes against the narrative of the society.

The portray of characters and the endings of each short story just touches your heart. I think it also deserves a live action movie. From the trailer i had already picked up the movie's content. The themes shown in the movie are despised by society and the contents of this movie is erotic, but that's aside this work is a masterpiece. The human relation ... depiction and their sexual awakening is amazingly portrayed with amazing sound direction.

The animation closely follows the manga and brings the characters to near perfection. I guess the director should be praised enormously. These types of works capture the heart and makes you feel that the feelings of these characters could not be trifled with. Again the animators should be praised for making me feel all these kinds of love.

I found the story extremely enjoyable. It was surprising to see how many people did not feel the same way, which seems to come down to the short length of each story. However, I find it pretty great as a nice little casual watch when you're feeling comfy and wanna get more of those feels.

The movie is divided into segmented anthologies, which follow different characters all experiencing a different aspect of life and romance. Most seem to disdain the short length but I find it actually elevates each narrative. A lot of us have probably seen all sorts of romances under the sun so we ... know how these stories typically play out and often this can lead to stories dragging out as us viewers can see the entire plot miles away yet the story won't pick up the pace. That ain't a problem here. The short length means we don't have time to get hung up on meaningless dialogue or unnecessary plot points or needless melodrama. Instead what we get is subtle vignettes of their lives and romances. The words are careful made and the stories never lingers too long on any topic and we learn all sorts of things about the romances and what kind of people they are just through the animation, story and dialogue. It also helps that 3/4 of the lives explored are very mature and nuanced topics. Any one of these stories could be explored in any vast long running sorts of ways, but don't let that notion make you miss the point. The key word here is vignette. The stories are meant to be short and fleeting yet fluttery in a way, hence the title "Happy-go-lucky days".

Although if it were perfect I would've given it a ten so sadly I gotta knock this story down a peg for one reason alone. The last story goes on far too long. Part of what made this story good was how they cut the fat, yet were kept the depth we want from a story. The final story with the kids betrays this in its latter portion. We end up going through all the melodrama most hate from most shoujo romances and the story becomes extremely generic with the typical anime highschool stuff you see all the time. The story starts presenting all sorts of ideas that never get looked into more even though they at first appear to be vital and key to the rest of the story. It also does not help that the female love interest is unlikable and some weird stuff happens with her that I won't mention cuz spoilers. It honestly was the worst and most abrupt section of the movie and it just was so ugghhhh that it brought this movie down for me from a near 10 to near 8.

Honestly, you could do with just the first 3 and stop there. My advice is to skip to the end of the 4th story the second it starts. You'll thank yourself a whole lot for that. Anyways it was a great time and I hope my review was helpful to you in any way.
