Ling Yu

In the world of Ling Yu(Spiritual Field), there is a continent named Chilan(Red Tide), where warriors and their Spirit Weapons are classified into different levels. Families and clans follow a strict hierarchy, too. Under the leadership of the Xuantian Union, human warriors and the Evil Clan have been engaged in brutal fights on Nether Battlefield for hundreds of years. A Soul-devouring Beast sneaked into the Chilan Continent through a crevice on the Nether Battlefield before it ruthlessly slaughtered the Feng Town and the Gao Town. Qin Lie, a young man from the Ling Town, together with Ling Yushi and Gao Yu whom he had grown up with, was commanded to help the Xuantian Union in the conquest of the Soul-devouring Beast. He did not anticipate that he would be swallowed into a great conspiracy. To protect his friends and to rescue the one he loves, the powers hiding in his veins are awakening.

So my Review is overrated 10/10 . I will mention some flaws but i have taken it out of the scores. My genuine score is a 7.5/10.

This is like a gem of an anime hiding here . I don't really do anime reviews but since this one lacks it i am gonna write a brief review for new comers to know if this worth a watch.

Just to begin with this is a anime about cultivation yes and romance although i am not sure if they will make it harem or just leave it at multiple love interest. i hope its the latter. The light ... novel was a full on Harem with multiple marriages (not a fan of this genre personally).

It does skip a lot from the web novel but i think thats really good , cause the novel is just to long to make an anime off with every detail. This comes from a person who has completely finished reading the light novel so you will have to trust me on that.
To point out the novels story begins from even a different point of time and the anime begins from somewhere entirely different.

And according to novel Qin Lie and Ling Yu Shi are married at the beginning but separated.

The things i like include that i like the the modified story (at least into 3rd season).
I really like the music and sounds.
Chinese voice are not bad and effort has been put into it.

I think the most it lacks is length of an episode is to short to begin with out 15 min(length of the ep is like 10 min). It makes sense because longer animations take far too much money and time to make.

A lot of people complained that the story is to hard to follow if you dont know the web novel. Its hard for me to write from that prospective but i feel the authors are trying to build the world. And actually am glad they have not really build the world just yet , as the web novel consist of a lot of worlds and they can only pick one of the worlds and make an anime out of it. Which perhaps is leading to a flaw of plot holes.

I love the fact that they make the story fast and a lot of action is included with that romance obv. I hope they do go just as equally fast that they did this whole season.

Yes i dont mind that the side characters dont get any character development but that is obv a downpoint

This should honestly be far higher rated despite its lack of a lot of elements and plot holes.

Character development : 7/10
Overall 7.5

But i am still giving it a 10 :P

Mixed Feelings

The first 5 episodes are so immensely boring that I was about to drop, but then it got better and became some sort of classic pseudo-cultivation story with outer and inner circle of disciples etc. Tho, it is not cultivation but some weird made-up power system that's poorly explained and didn't engage me in the slightest.
Overall it's all quite poorly explained and confusing.
Episodes are short, in average 9 min without the intro and outro.
The general dynamic of the story (which btw has a very shallow plot) is typical shounen battle with some academy elements.
I also watched S2 which is even more shounen battle and somehow ... much worse than this, so that there I dropped the series.
BORING

I didn't notice the "toxic FL" thing at all, it's just the typical Chinese dynamic of "you saw me naked, you must die" (no idea why they feel that way, but it must be something cultural as it's a recurrent thing in 70% of the manhua and donghua in my experience). SO she is pissed and makes his life difficult for a while while also falling for him.
This bitchy dynamic changes later on.

Very little fanservice thanks God, the MC is generic but likeable (bad personality, said another reviewer, but maybe I am a bad person because I see nothing particularly bad in him), the worldbuilding atm is extremely narrow/small.
Music is, well, everything is very average. Nothing remarkable whatsoever.
Considering how bad S2 is, I'd not recommend starting at all. But there are several more seasons and if you are looking for quantity to binge with an acceptable quality this would probably do. I mean, I had phases of cultivation manhua (among the lowest that human entertainment has ever reached) just because I wanted something bingeable. Who am I to judge.

Absolute horrible. Another anime where toxic female lead is a must. Ruining every single anime they appear in.
Sadly it is rare to see writers make a good plot. Dont understand why it is required that the male lead gets put down by some trashy female, wanting a relationship and therefore treats him like garbage. Is there any realistic scenario where that happens? A guy falling for a woman cos she a bitch.

Usually donghua treats the lead better than the japanese authors.
Please someone explain why he it is impossible for a female lead to be nice towards him...
