100% agree with you. The main thing that makes his character work at all is how perfect his downfall was.

Like for as generic as he was as a character, the story couldn't have used him better!





It really is the best first episode I have seen out of anything. It's so good, and only gets better the more you think about it.

I liked the finale almost just as much, but that had the advantage of having the entire rest of the series building up to it. I can't think of anything else that tells this good of a stand alone story in the pilot.

The second half of pluto's pilot and the first episode of to your eternity, are the only ones that I would even consider comparing lol



For kino's journey I've actually heard the old one is better. I haven't seen it, so I wouldn't know, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Overall, it's a solid series, but I wouldn't call it AMAZING. It's pretty episodic so the quality of the episodes isn't exactly consistent, but that one episode was DEFINITELY the stand out for me.

For Id:Invaded, it's animation can be a little wonky, and unlike mars red it doesn't exactly make up for it with the art, and I will be fully honest and say the main villain kind of sucks. BUT, I think the main character has one of the most compelling arcs I have seen in recent anime, and the directing and music are superb.

The episodes that I gave a 10/10 to are a.... let's say a mini arc or plot point, that I think hits so god damn hard. I cried like a bitch at that part, so take that how you will lol

Oh also, it's one of the few recent anime where the main character says "fuck" in the dub.

Which may not seem like a lot, but it was saved for a very important scene, and with "fuck" being so rare to hear in anime, It kinda hit pretty hard.

Though the VA for the main character in the japanese is Kenjirou Tsuda, So I'm not going to say the dub is "better" for that alone lol




Honestly though, I don't know if you have seen these or not since you said on your profile that you removed a lot of what you watched. But If I was going to recommend you something I would mention stuff like Steins;gate, made in abyss, or death parade way before suggesting id:invaded or kino's journey 2017.

I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. Tbh I also gave it a 9, it is a really really great good show, and there are episodes of it that I consider a 10/10, but I do think it has a few small short comings to be a masterpiece. Like I'm not a huge fan of rufus, even though I understand that he played the role of the villain well enough.

The king of fools (episode 11) works as well as it does because he is so narrow minded, but I feel like even a small layer of extra depth would go a long way. He is the only character in the show that I would call 1 dimensional.

And I forgot his name, but the scientist dude was pretty much the only one from the main vampire unit that didn't get an arc or backstory or anything, which was a shame.

and lastly, while I do think the show looks FANTASTIC, it's also so obviously only good looking because of how absolutely talented the directing/art directing team is. The animation itself is extremely limited, and while they work around that for the most part, there is a part of me that could only imagine how absolutely incredible the show could have looked if it also had the budget that it deserves.



For mars red, I plan to make a video on the first episode within the like next 3 videos that I make on the main channel.

The one I am working on right now is called "giving meaning to the meaningless" and it's well.... about that. I have 3 examples, which are from steins;gate (the phrase steins;gate itself), kung fu panda (the scroll) and Akudama drive (the coin), but there are probably more that I can add since it's still in the script phase.

Honestly sonny boy probably has something like that, that I am forgetting.

speak of sonny boy, I do definitely plan on making a or multiple videos on it at some point, but I don't think it's going to be super soon, cause I do want to rewatch the show at least one more time before doing it, and it would be a long ass video If I were to talk about sonny boy as a whole.

Plus I am still improving, and feel like I wouldn't be able to do it justice with my current video quality.

If I were to make a video on it soon, I would probably start with a video about laughing dog (episode 8), which is not only my favourite sonny boy episode, but also one of my favourite episodes in general period.
