any news on the legal streaming numbers? because the disc sales are mid remember the manabi line is around 3000 average discs per volume ye the manabi line is not reliable but its a good rule of thumb

edit:

for comparison
Frieren Blu-ray/DVD vol.1 sold 6,326 copies in its first week https://twitter.com/Nakayasee/status/1752274794643345783
Apothecary Diaries Blu-ray vol.1 sold 4,510 copies in its first week. https://twitter.com/Nakayasee/status/1752281343411589367

Take a guess. And we wonder how these types of anime or the garbage recycled copy-paste isekais/reincarnation anime be getting multiple sequels while all the actual good anime barely get one season of 12-24eps.

Not big numbers but it's decent (maybe a bit more than decent) in today's standards.

@GTRaijin Borderline hentai usually barely sales, that's why hentai is in such a sad state nowadays.

@deg Those you list are all "big hits".
Mushoku Tensei S2 Vol.1 sold 2,866. Even AOT final season Vol.1 sold only 3,108 in it's first week. And these are both very popular shows. We have many other shows that have decent popularity/quality and sold below 2k (CSM, Mob Psycho S2,S3, etc).
It's getting much harder to hit the "threshold" to blow up and sell big numbers today (unless it's an idol anime).
Given this context, DM did pretty good.

@TouhouMetal volume one sales is just the biggest profit in most cases since later disc volumes sold less historically

@deg It's not exactly a good metric now since we are moving to streaming services and practically very few people still use BDs/DVDs.

@deg I mean if you want to compare with other shows, it's not quite fair to only list the big ones. If you are concerned if they have enough profit, many shows with same/lower sales got continuation so I'm not worried.

@deg If anything I expected much lower sales on BDs/DVDs, so this number is actually good news to me at least.

@deg dungeon meshi's vol.1 special edition is 275$ though, even the standard one is pricier than both Kusuriya's, despite having the same number of episodes/disc, and Frieren's; I believe these are good numbers

Blu-Ray means nothing nowadays, not when Kadokawa is advertising the shit out of Meshi, the manga has sold 5 million copies since the anime started, and streaming, e.t.c exists. That’s like saying Chainsaw Man and Solo Levelling were flops because of their Blu-Ray sales.

@GTRaijin People who spend money and support the thing they like, who else? Unlike the fans of your so called good animes who watch from pirated sources lol.

Chainsaw Man and Solo Leveling were flops though, hell, even in streaming numbers, Solo Leveling was constantly at the bottom in NicoNico rankings.

@Ionliosite2 CSM and Solo Leveling made way more money off Crunchyroll than any show has ever made off of NicoNico, I'd bet

Shh, don't tell them. Let people jerk to their CR sub thinking they support the industry.

@ichinose06 NO. Anime discs were always expensive collector items in Japan. There is no point buying them when streaming exist and they don't add any significant bonuses to BD/DVD volumes.

IIRC Blu-ray Boxes are more expensive than normal BDs, so those are actually decent sales
