I've never played any of Nier game, but surely i knew that this game was a huge sucess, very praised, inspired lots of cultured cosplayers 🗿 etc.

So i was very curious about this anime.

I liked it, a bit disappointed about the 1st episode, but then it turn better with the character's devenlopment.

Still, what a mess is this plot? Can someone spoil and explain to me?

i actually got to play NieR:Automata when the anime went on hiatus, that just made me appreciate the anime more!!

Haven't seen the Anime, played the game 5 years ago though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't 9s uniquely programmed to express curiosity for things like life and anthropology? For the replicants to be capable of skepticism when that isn't in their programming is a bit of a stretch.

Humanity went extinct through a bacterial disease, maybe they should have tried to spread human genes throughout the solar-system with freighters carrying frozen embryos of uninfected children for the androids to foster. Maybe they did and we just don't know about it.

The machines are also modelled to look like Emil from Nier Replicant, and not in their creator's image(unlike the replicants). Nonetheless they were able to discover and harness magic, like Emil.

I’m only a watcher and didn’t read the Manga, but read about the game thanks to Fandom’s wikia. I know more background than most anime-only watchers about the world and characters. I read that back in 2015 when I had just graduated from grad school and into my first job. My job was easy and boring, so I spent most of my time reading fandom wikis and somehow Nier Automota came along. Perhaps because game had just come out, I don’t know. I’m so happy they turned it into an anime with a fun thought and hoping they have another season with no COVID excuses for lack of production. Whether those were excuses or not, I’ll leave that up for debate.

NieR Automata is a sequel to the original NieR released in 2010. The reason humanity is extinct is explained in that game, along with the current state of the world.

I've already played the game and enjoyed the story while playing it. I don't think watching the anime can surpass that experience.

honestly the nier anime was a huge disappointment for anyone who has played the games
they messed with the plot and rushed most of the things in the main story
yes i get that making an anime adaptation from games is hard but it could have been better
maybe it is because they tried to adapt most of the game in a 12 episode series
honestly they should have taken their time
the first season should have been at least 24 episodes following the first ending and some of the important side quests that add to the lore of the game like "amnesia"
