The fact that there is no continuation for this series is absolutely insane considering how huge it was when it first came out and how massive and dedicated it's fans always have been.

No movie, no season 2?? ridiculous.

I understand that they've got a load of brand new even bigger projects going right now but it's still absolutely crazy that they managed to fumble the ball THIS BAD. Doing the movie and maybe an extra season or two could've been HUGE.

Ima be sitting alone and dreaming of what could've been. wtf mappa.

It's super weird because it could be a cash cow if they let it. Kind of wish they'd sell the rights to another studio

That other topic was saying that the show was popular but didn't make much money, but the opening post claiming that is deleted. Weird, but if that was the case, then it's not surprising there hasn't been more

such a great fan base still promoting the anime themselves. it would be great if Mappa updated us at least to confirm the movie has been scrapped. been waiting so long and I really wanted to see Yuri win a gold medal!!!! I loved this show and I can't understand Mappa at all

The director (?? might’ve been someone else involved in production) came out and said that they barely made any money off of it which I find hard to believe tbh but if that’s the truth we’re never getting that movie lol

I have a hard time believing this because merch for it was EVERYWHERE in Japan after it came out. It was clearly popular and had a significant fan base.

the ice adolescence trailer was out almost 3 years ago and thats it. i can say mappa dropped the project because theres no way we get jjk movie, season 2, and csm first while ice adolescence was announced way before those two

I feel like the movie is coming soon. Mappa recently posted YOI's opening on their yt and YOI's official twt account is still active. Also, someone in the comment section under the yt post said that members of Yuri on Ice is heavily on Attack on Titan, as well as JJK, now that they are wrapping up w the project we should be able to get the movie soon. I really hope that this is true and maybe a S2 of YOI😭😭

yeah, trailer for the movie was ages ago. I remember being very excited. well, JJK is the main project rn no wonder every other project is postphoned. I hope we get movie eventually because...I really need to see Victor on ice like so so bad 🙈

not a surprise tho, they even deleted yoi movie page from MAL. Mappa is still to give us an official update about yoi, whether of its cancellation or not. They can easily give the whole movie project to another studio, if they really cared about us fans. But profit is always at first place, sadly 😞

@vituanimefan deleted and re-added. But yeah, there isn't any updates for a while.

by the way, I read a while ago, regarding the money situation.. it's because MAPPA was very low on the list of companies and the profits are divided according to how high up you are.

Dentsu, TV Asahi, Movic, Avex Pictures, CIC, Cygames < all these guys probably higher on the list and got more money. meanwhile the studio that animated it got peanuts. No more YOI.
