Anyone else feel the same?
Yunyun first appeared in the 2016 OVA and I always enjoyed her contribution to KonoSuba but I really wasn't expecting her to outshine Megumin in this spin-off! I swear Bakuen almost feel like a Yunyun promotional series.

I read the novels as well. I can say with certainty that as great as Megumin is, and as much as I love her character, she simply can’t hold her own in a series. Kazuma and Aqua are essential.

disagree. they were both great and it was the great chemistry between them that made the show so enjoyable. a great comedy couple. Rie and Aki are a great pair and it shows that they are great pros at what they do.

Megumin had great moments and sets the stage to a lot of the best Yunyun moments, and vice-versa.
loved the spin-off, even more than the main series XD.

They are both one note characters so not really, they need the others of konosuba cast to work imo.

Yunyun was a big surprise for sure. In a world full of trash people, no one expected such a perfect and precious person living there (maybe that is the reason why that world bullies her so much).

Basically sums up my thoughts on the show, so much of the comedy we love is missing without those two.

I agree, I feel like if either of them were on their own the show wouldn’t have been as fun.

Forget Yunyun, Megumin's own sister upstaged Megumin lol I come from the main show though not understanding why she's such a favorite in the first place so I'm a bit biased. I don't dislike her at all, she's great with everyone else, but when pretty much all she does is a dry "funny man", it makes the "straight man" look better. An example of one of the few times it's flipped is early on when a classmate mentioned Megumin being cuckolded and she reacts to it. If it wasn't for Yunyun, I'm pretty sure I would have gotten bored really quickly.

man, i def agree with this. yunyun had a better story overall in a spinoff about meg

since everyone elee confirmed its canon welp, IMHO it doesnt hold off well on its own. darkness really shined in S2, whereas meg was very meh this entire season. without yun id guess it wouldve been an exploded a train wreck (ba dum tsk)

Yeah, while Megumin's standing didn't improve for me, I like Yunyun much more after watching this spin-off.
