Nisekoi is a manga about nothing.

This one sentence sums up Nisekoi for me. Really it does. You could end the review right here right now based on this simple sentence alone.

For a more complete review, here is what I believe is the true "story" to Nisekoi.

Nisekoi stars Raku, a coma patient stuck in his coma fantasy where he's trying to find the girl who once confessed to him among all his harem members. Now, all harem logic applies here, no common sense, just awful stupidity and generic cliches.

So Raku doesn't confess to any of the girl because if he does, he would realise his true stats in the world and will die for real, so , his subconscious creates strange coincidental occurrences that happen so that any potential confession scene would be destroyed somehow. It's how Raku perpetually stays in his dream world.

Ultimately it's not about Onodera vs Shitoge, it's a story of whether or not Raku will come to his senses and wake up from this dreadful coma fantasy.

It's heartbreaking as hell.

It's especially heartbreaking to me.

The final joke is played on the viewers. Nisekoi is not the fake love between Raku and Shitoge, it's the falseness of the entire manga/anime series to the whole audience.

At least Magical girl Kosaki is funny at times.
