hehe true. i've heard only one track by ELISA i think, but seeing that it left no impression whatsoever, it can't be that great.
i agree that kalafina is wonderful, but i feel that the individual singers aren't given enough room to express themselves. because i focus a lot on expression when it comes to singing, so i feel that kalafina is lacking in that. in terms of harmony and style, they're fantastic though =D
i'll try out a few of Lia's tracks. i've never heard of her. >.<
i couldn't last through lucky star either. a lot of time for the very 'in-depth' parodies, i have no idea what's the joke they're driving at. >.<

suddenly i feel a bit more motivated to finish it, because i remembered johan. he's really one of the best villains in anime ever. i like the fact that he's not just one of those flat, pure evil characters who goes about killing people at random. oh wait, in a way he is, but he has his own personality.
monster also had another thing which impressed me: its cast. i've seen many very good animes ruined by a very sub-standard (albeit popular) cast. monster couldn't possibly have been so compelling without them.
i don't like how nana mizuki (until recently) has just been singing at full blast for each and every single song with hardly any expression. sure, full blast leaves impact, but after a while, you start thinking 'why do they all sound the same?'
LOL! i really enjoyed reading about someone who feels that aya hirano is just one huge fan-service. in fact, i don't see what's the huge hype about many of the really popular seiyuus nowadays. the only patern i can see is that -if you happen to voice one character who's well received, you're in for fame and even more popular roles, whether you deserve it or not-
oh yes, i forgot YUI. xD i give credit for the fact her voice is unique (though you can hardly call that her own effort since it's what she's born with), but she's like one of those artistes where if you heard one song, you heard it all. her style just seems too limited.

yea, btu monster is like one of those marathon, once you stop, it's hard to pick up. and i hardly have time to watch much nowadays. >.< (gr... and i thought i would be free after my exams)
i dont know how good the 20th century boys manga is, but the movie was really boring. the whole time, my friend and i were waiting for it to end...
you're kind lol, having a passing mark of 7. mine is probably 6, and i am very critical. xD i really enjoyed the classical pieces in nodame too. not sure about the paris chapter, but i really went to listen to all those pieces in the first season again and again.
sometimes i feel that people like me will find nothing except irritation in such forums. because all those i've been to just praise the really popular (but usually over-rated) seiyu-singers like maaya sakamoto (i really don't see what's brilliant about her singing), tanaka rie (another one whom i just don't see her selling point) and mizuki nana (she is really blessed with that voice, but she doesn't make full use of it)

haha but right now, the last time i watched an episode was like a month ago. i hope i still remember the stuff. monster was a very nice change though, from the usual sort. i admire the person who created it =D
ah.. i finally see how zesubou may appeal to people. xD cause when i watched it, i was just getting confused...
the trend i saw is that people who's watched the anime won't like the drama and vice versa. so i infer the paris chapter wasn't all too fantatsic? xD
oh, you started one? i'll probably go take a look, though i don't have hte habit to join clubs since i realised i don't even go visit clubs very often

i only have one friend who likes gunslinger girl. monster... well... no one i know in real life likes it. they either find it too gross, too bloody or too long. >.< (tho i kinda agree with the third point)
haha zetsubou sensei has too many references i just can't understand. baccano is too much for my limited memory bank and kino is just too abstract. oddly enough, i also agree it's weird someone who loves classical music don't like nodame, but i think it's because of the art, since i enjoyed the drama. xD

hey! (jen here btw, i just noticed you had an MAL account too) xD
whoa, i can't believe you also like gunslinger girl. that is definitely one of my fav animes (tho it seems soooo hard to find another person to likes it) and i like monster quite a lot too. in fact, i like everything about it except that it is a bit too long.
though it seems like the similarities end there lol, given our low compatibility. hm... i wonder what went wrong

Indeed that's what I'm referring to, and I must say I wasn't let down when I actually heard the stuff.
Maybe, just maybe, I heard a track with some Sakimoto influences in there too.

Say, it's been a while, I'd just like to ask have you tried out -5- Sound Album -yukar-, the soundtrack to the visual novel "5"?

Ack, guess we are in a niche within a niche. Nowadays I don't even see much Kajiura talk even.
lol guess I'm not into all this holistic stuff as you are, I'm just interested in any hidden gems out there which might be brought to light by the club. But expanding on composer knowledge is always a good thing too.

I think I like the music so much I got on a slight roll there.
All this Gigantic talk made me rewatch the first episode, and now more than ever before I think this is one score that carries the show, instead of the other way round. IMO that's quite something actually.
I distinctly remember a grand total of one person giving a hoot about it when I brought it up on Seijisensei's Best Scores of '07 thread. :p

Your last.fm addition is working well, on me at least. lol
Anyway, with regards to the Gigantic Formula OSTs, the tracks I liked were Brave, Shingo's Theme, Legend(from disc 2) and of course Main Theme and its variations, with Brave being my personal favourite and Main Theme a close second, the very dynamic feeling that the former has was able to grip me through the crisis scene that it first plays (of the cliche that the passerby boy meets giant mecha for the first time in a chaotic background). Main Theme, like for you, gives me the goosebumps in a good way. Legend is typical gloriousness well done, and I guess Shingo's Theme is just slightly below that level of glorious, but still good.
I hope I didn't write too much.

Both sounds like good things to me. And it's still on its way to my computer. :p
Been busy as heck.
