Do you know Princess Tutu achieved everything Madoka did a decade ago?

I'd be honored if you could help me with the Best OST category in my Acadime Awards project~: http://myswordisunbelievablydull.wordpress.com/2011/01/02/announcing-digiboys-acadime-awards-and-how-you-can-make-them-awesome/

Hm.. its actually a historical story, though they threw whatever mystique of Japanese history down the drain with the hopelessly brainless characters...

Oh yes! Shakugan no Shana! No wonder I felt sure I've heard Kow Otani's works somewhere. Or rather, I went through the and few tracks and got bored. The first track was alright, but knowing most OSTs show off their best tracks at the front, a first track being just mildly impressive does not boast of a good OST overall.

Out of curiosity, who else would fit under that class? I would certainly love to listen to some of their stuff. =D

I didn't like it mostly because the characters are just way too flat. The only thing on the guys' mind was "the girl" and the thing the girl considered rational was throwing herself into all sorts of dangers which would require someone to save her since she's useless on the battlefield. Absolutely senseless...

I was trying to pay some attention to the music, but no, it wasn't particularly impressive. Though that may be because I set the bar too high. I am a huge fan of traditional sounds after all, so I was expecting something on par with the Naruto Shippuden or Mononoke OST. But the BGM I heard from Hakuouki were mostly the very standard kinda music, fits the mood but doesn't seem to have anything particularly memorable.

I didn't know much about Kow Otani though. Only heard 2 of his tracks from 'Passion', and it didn't really match up to the works of other artistes like Mitsuda Yasunori and Yuki Kajiura who contributed in that CD. May want to check out the game OST though. Recently started listening to a little of VGM stuff, and some have been really good.

Thanks I never knew that. Only had a vague idea he was involved in the concert in some way.

When I go to such fairs, I will always have a list on hand. I think the $50 I may save by browsing around there and buying things on offer is worth less than the time and energy I waste pushing around

Well now there's another popular seiyuu/singer whom I think have absolutely nothing to boast about: Miyano Mamoru. =.= Maybe I've always been very disappointed with his seiyuu works as a whole, so when he branched into singing, I just can't see his selling point there either...

Guardians4 did not strike me with horrible singing. They were just too generic...

Oh yea, that's a good point... But I think my impression of crowds is very different. I'm not sure how well I'll put up with such forms of socializing, but the kind of crowds I hate is when you spend hours just pushing around and being pushed around. (Common scene at some local IT fairs T.T)

Haha I think I'm drawn to her at first cause... she looked like one of my History teachers. xD Still, her songs are nice so I will be sticking to her for some time to come. ^=^

Still, watching the Animelo live was well worth it since there were some other vocal talents who are so under-rated but have pretty decent works too. Like Misato Aki, Okui Masami, Yonekura Chihiro and, of course, Suara. Hirano is there as a form as amusement XD

Though I think over the few weeks I came across a few disastrously bad too. Went to listen to random new releases on the anime side, and must say that among the most disappointing were Guardians4 (feels like pre-school rhyme) and Yuuka Nanri's first single without Yuki Kajiura.

4 hours is a long time. XD I try to keep away from them completely...

I've actually never heard of those songs. xD Think because I've been mostly listening to those from her albums, not her singles.

Oh, I remember you commenting on Hirano Aya's abysmal singing skills, and I think I'm definitely on your side now. Was looking at the animelo performances, and hers really stood out. Really energetic, but threw every sense of music down the drain in the process. Honestly, I can hardly even catch a tune. xD

Yeah .. i listened to the Sixth Station track .. it was slow & good
But my fav still remains the theme from Howl's Moving Castle & Inochi No Namae(not the vocals but the melody like in the piano instrumental)
No .. i'm not the one playing the piano .. wish i could play that well but i'm still sorta like a beginner now .. you can get the sheet music at http://josh.agarrado.net/music/anime/
Look at his transcriptions .. just too good
I just used a software for making the .midi file sound more realistic

FreaXoid | 03-01-10, 4:36 AM
Hmm .. it wasn't as good as i expected it to be :)
Check these mp3s (piano instrumentals) i made :

Actually .. i haven't listed to 6th Station .. I play piano so while searching on Youtube i find Inochi No Namae and Itsumo Nando often .. but i'll listen to it now .. i may know it since i've watched the movie :)
And yeah, WATCH HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE RIGHT NOW!!
If you haven't seen the movie you'll not be able to appreciate the song much.. that's what i think .. and also it's my favorite movie of Miyazaki!
