Mixed Feelings
I think Killua changed his personality from the first season to this re-make. He is now more friendly and accommodating. Whether that is bad or good is up to you. The overall feel of the anime up to the Greed Island Arc is good. Oerall, it was a bit confusing on how several elements have come together: magic, aliens, etc. The Chimera Ant Arc was just too slow. I think they focused too much on it, adding more characters that would be scrapped in the end. There were several series of episodes on the arc where the main characters were not shown at all. And ...

The art and animation was very good and pleasing to the eyes. The start was very very slow. Considering that this was only a 12-episode anime, the good part starts only at episode 10. Madoka, the titular character was a crybaby and very annoying. Akemi Homura and Madoka's mom are the best.

Some characters although very significant in the web of relationships were dropped, e.g. Hitomi. This was a magical girl anime but not quite because it was also dark and very ambitious.

I suggest to have patience and watch until the very end because it still is a good and very touching anime. It was very ...

It's been a while since I've actually laughed from a joke in an anime, but this show could easily make me do it. Everything was light, very fun and seriously funny. They do stupid things but the show is not stupid at all. The overall story seemed superficial but they made it in a way where you can look at things differently. It's very interesting not to mention funny. I was only planning to watch a few episodes but I kept wanting more and ended up finishing the whole series in one night.

Plus points also for the art and for Nozaki-kun's voice. It matched really ...

Shugo Chara! (Manga) add
I like the art - clean, straightforward, and very pleasing to the eyes. I thought the character's emotions were also clearly reflected in the art.

The story was okay. It was fast-paced which is good. I love Ikuto's character very much. Hehe. There was too much idealism which isn't much too my taste. And at the end, there was a confusing all-fantasy arc that surpassed space and time which I didn't really like. But overall, I thought the manga was good and I definitely enjoyed it. I liked best the dokidoki moments of Ikuto and Amu. Hehe. I also liked how Ikuto was portrayed and those ...

I thought the overall story was very good, but in the first season I thought the animators were kind of lazy. There were so many static scenes that were only kept moving by the sound. I also thought some shots were reused a lot. Although giving life to classical music could be really hard in an anime that centers on music, I still thought those kinds of scenes bring down an otherwise good anime. But looking at it the other way around, the first season is a good base/set-up for the next two seasons. It showed how good the musicality of the characters are, how ...

Mixed Feelings
This is a battle manga but I suppose this isn't your standard one, although I'm in no position to say such because I don't read much of this genre but I have seen a lot of battle anime.

One-on-one battles or "you go ahead first, leave this area to me" types are very few in this manga, even if we consider a meister and a weapon as only one. Fights with the enemy are usually done in teams even if there is only one to fight. The usual "I'll beat the shit out of you til you come to your senses" is also nil or maybe ...

This is the best anime I've seen as of yet.

The good stuff: Fast-paced mecha fights that do not include draggy self-blames, unnecessary flashbacks, and repetitive dialogues. The story is an overwhelming drama that poses unanswerable moral and philosophical questions. But those do not make it downright heavy because it's all balanced out by touches of student life here and there, little stories of friendship and trust not to mention romance. Everything is all good and amazing especially that one big twisted ending.

The bad stuff: Very twisted ending. Every episode takes your breath away that you cannot wait for the next episode.

Bokura ga Ita (Manga) add
I think this is the best manga I have ever read. I can't believe Obata-sensei's art. It was so amazing it captured my heart. There was no need for petty dialogues and self-reflections, all feelings were portrayed in the art itself. I've never read a manga that tells a story in a series of pages that have no written words, but still flawlessly telling such a wonderful story.

I kind of didn't appreciate how she drew eyeballs at the start though, and how the characters still look like kids even after ten years. Haha. But every flaw was overlooked by every emotion so everything was ...
