A love story that is frustrating and isn't going anywhere at all? That is the most realistic and relatable thing I ever heard! Hahaha...that made me sad.

Despite its name and the plot, it wasn't as dark or depressing as many other other horror series out there which focuses on death and the afterlife. Still, don't let that upbeat, catching opening music trick you, this series was by no means light-hearted, no way!

While the idea is simple, xxxholic managed to produced an interesting story following a boy who attracts spirits. The series tells several one-episode stories based on beliefs of Asian culture such as old traditions and supernatural entities.
If the psychological idea of Asian beliefs and superstitions doesn't attract you, the characters might instead. I enjoyed the character dynamics of the main characters, particularly the dynamic between Watanuki and Yuuko. Overall, the series is subtle and slow to build the viewer up for the reveal and somewhat vague due to Yuuko's cryptic words but it is not overly dramatic due to the entertaining dynamic of the main ... |
