This show started off iffy, but the characters definitely grew on me over time.
"Is it interesting?" Well, the story is somewhere inbetween a linear continuous story and a purely episodic one. The story is told similar to the the pace of the characters; fast and furious one moment, and slow and thoughtful the next. In the end, it was alright.
1.5 out of 3.
"Was it memorable?" The artwork and animation were really good at parts, but wouldn't stay consistant. The character motivations were a little too mysterious for my taste. The ending wasn't too original and somewhat disappointing.

While I did enjoy this show, I felt that I could have been watching something better.
"Was it interesting?" The world was well built. The characters wer'ent all they could be. The plot was lacking overall. The whole show is based on a gimmick. 1.5 out of 3. "Was it entertaining?" Oh yeah! I like fighting as much as anyone. I especially like the comedy to be on the light side. Most anime comedy is grating to me. 2 out of 3. "Was it memorable?" This is where it falls short. The best parts of this were the sound effects and the artwork. Mixing the usual soft sytle for the characters with some kind of photo extrapolated backgrounds really added to the overal picture. The sounds were so realistic that when I was not looking, I would have believed it was live action.
The main problem I have with this special was the characters, mainly the lead. I don't like her. I don't hate her, but there is just not a lot to like either. She regrets the decisions she has made, but anyone with some common sense could have advised her ...

This is a movie that just has too much undeserving praise. Everyone I've heard or read goes on and on about the animation. It's just 70's American style animation with more modern models and a large budget. When trying to ignore the disturbing/distracting animation, there is the english dub that brings the movie down. There were some good names in this, but the translation and their execution were just plain off on this. The music was alright the few times I noticed it and when it wasn't just a slightly alternative to a previous piece. The story is adequate

This movie looked good and the synopsis sounded interesting, but by the end of it, I was very disappointed. This is a romantic drama with just the drama. The story is so disjointed and lacking in information that I was just aggravated when it just ended.
The dialogue was decent and somewhat realistic except for the monologues. Anyone that thinks like that in their head is not an "ordinary" person. Akari seemed nostalgic later on, but not as bad as Tohno. I'm just going to assume he is on the verge of suicide, but without telling me anything helpful, ... |
