First off, both shows take place mainly in England and the main characters are British. Second, both main protagonists possess badass butlers (I'm actually talking about Walter here, not Alucard) and have total control over a demonic monster that carries out their master's will (This is Alucard), regardless of morals or relationships. Additionally, the ending of Hellsing Ultimate was similar to the ending of Black Butler season 2, but I won't say why for the sake of not spoiling either show. But, in the end, both series, despite the similarities, are full to the brim of their own great points and I highly recommend both, especially if you've already seen one.

The servant to master relationship is a very big part of both shows and each express dark themes and qualities. Alucard's nature and arrogance reminded me a lot of Gilgamesh for some reason as well. Furthermore, the catholic church is a massive part of both series. The characters were all very smart, and some of the tactical plots in both shows were genius and amazingly well executed. Additionally, each show is mostly based off of a war that was detrimental to society and the endings were very similar. I don't want to spoil anything, so I won't say any more, but I will say that both shows are some that I will highly recommend, and if you like one, your sure to like the other.

Death Note and Fate/Zero. These two anime series had such an effect on me; I don't know where to begin. First off, both these shows had a huge impact on me and my morals. They made me think of life and the lives of others as well as the true definition of "justice" or if you prefer, "hero." Both series kept me on the edge of my seat like nothing I've seen before. They still come to mind when I make moral/everyday decisions, and they both plunge frightfully deep into the results of what we think is the right choice. Moving away from the final message of the stories, the two relate in many more ways than what I have already described. The most noticeable similarity, besides, of course, the in-depth exploration of human nature, is probably the main characters. In both shows, the main protagonist is not truly defined until the end. In addition, both the antagonist and the main protagonist are seemingly evenly matched in levels of skill and intellect and fight each other in battles of wits. They each use their resources to the fullest, and slowly figure each other out as the series progress. They counter each other's moves almost exactly, and rival each other until the end. This is seen in each show, whether it be L vs Light, or Kirei vs Kiritsugu—they each spend most of the show figuring out their opponents' next move and planning ahead for their own. Another similarity, moving back toward the moral aspect of the shows, is the whole idea of "saving the world." This is seen in both series, and of course really digs deep into the cause and affect of this sort of mindset. It totally explores the idea in-depth, the individual definition of the expression, and then exploits the efforts of the characters in pursuit of this ultimate goal in order to teach the viewer an important lesson. Both shows employ an extensive pursuit of this goal, and what is resorted to in order to attain this goal. They emphasize the results of the journey and the final destination of the pursuit, which is most definitely not what was originally expected or hoped for. "In any case," as L would say, both series are some of my all-time favorites and I highly recommend both. They are truly life-changing, and if you enjoyed one, you will most definitely like the other.

These two shows are a couple of gems. They are two of my favorite animes of all time, simply because they are the only shows that actually had me rolling on the floor laughing. And I can tell you firsthand, thats not something that happens often. They simply can't be beat in terms of shows that make you laugh. Some could say they beat even american comedy sitcoms. Personally, I enjoyed them even more then Family Guy or South Park, both of which I've seen every episode, and I laughed harder in the 4 episodes of Dokuro-Chan then in all the episodes of any season of Family Guy combined. Anyway, They're both hilarious shows with small, almost unnoticeable love stories embedded deep within them, and they both include supernatural entities for characters. In each, the main character gets the hell beat out of him and he is killed frequently, and they both have ecchi aspects to them. More so in Is This A Zombie? but it can be found in Dokuro-Chan, especially the second season. Finally, both shows also include a tsundere heroin, whom the main protagonist is often killed by. All in all, both shows are glimmering gold in my eyes and both are highly recommended. If you liked one, you're sure to like the other.

Mushishi and Kanon are definitely dissimilar in a lot of ways, but they share qualities too. for example, the main protagonists in both shows are very quiet and conserved and full of secrets. The two shows have the same sort of absent, airy feel while you watch them as well. Both these shows are some of my absolute favorites, and I enjoyed them thoroughly. If you got a kick out of Mushishi, you will probably like Kanon, and vice versa. I highly recommend both.
