I'm a LOT older than you. I was in the US Army before you were born. I also run my own business. So, no, I don't marathon anime everyday. My interests are varied and I have about 18 feet of wall space devoted to bookshelves holding hardcover books, books, and books (no manga), and some antique and vintage objets d′art.

No books or docs in particular to recommend but I just did a google and came up with a number of interesting links.

As to my watching habits; it really varies. I'll go days without watching anything and then catch up on stuff currently airing. On another day I'll look for old stuff I missed. If it really hooks me, I've been known to marathon. It isn't a daily thing. I do a lot of other stuff totally unrelated to anime.

LoL Anime per se, has been around since the 1960's - 50+ years. Over 7,000 of them are listed on this site.
