Dungeon Meshi is pretty much a slice of life, comedy, adventure anime all rolled up into one.
It deals with serious situations with a light-hearted feel. What would be considered a serious issue, such as death and murder, Dungeon Meshi addresses with a light-hearted approach. At first I was taken aback, but keeping an open mind, I would assume this was intentional on the writer's part. The characters are regular roles that you would generally find in a party, characters don't really have any personal development. We are simply along for the ride in this dungeon run. The story of Qin Yu's external arts cultivation continues. Although the action continues, the sense of "hardwork pays off" is less prevalent in season 2. We see our hero gain powerups within the span of days and weeks, rather than the first season where he worked hard for years. Side characters feel much more expendable than before and are treated as meals. Although the plot leaves much to be desired, and character development has pretty much halted, the action scenes, which is the main reason why I watch some of these donghua, still delivers. I don't even know why I finished this anime. Probably because it was so easy to stream on Netflix.
The story was horrendous. It started off well enough and showed some sort of semblance of a story. However, a few episodes in, it just became character introduction gallore. There were no of story. They just kept introducing weapons halfway through the series. Art was okay. Nothing great, nothing really I put 1 for Character since there were pretty much no development.
