This is the first anime i ever watched. I was four years old and i could still see the difference between this and cartoons. I recently found my old dusty vhs of this and introduced my kids to it. These are some truly beautiful stories.
Witches, princesses, knights, monsters, goofy animals, spells, and swords. A little bit of everything, and each episode is a completely different tale. All based on the works of the brothers Grimm. This is from the 80s so dont expect cutting edge animation, but for its time, it does have pretty visuals and decent music.

I purchased this because someone had given me a Burst Angel wall scroll that looked pretty cool. Unfortunately Burst Angel turned out to be another one of those animes that took me several months to finally find the interest to finish.
One good thing about this was that the mecha battles were kinda cool, and i dont usually like mecha at all. The story, however, was a snoozefest. FLCL is just one of those animes that everyone says they like simply because....everyone says they like it. Go on any anime site and look up Fooly Cooly and you'll find it has some of the highest ratings. Go home and watch this and you'll be bored off your bum.
The graphics are good, very nice to look at. Then it will switch to crappy bottom of the barrel graphics in the middle of a scene. The story is boring and confusing. Now don't get me wrong I like confusing if there is a point. There is no point to fooly cooly. None whatsoever. This ...

Uuughh.... how can I explain how horrible this anime is? I like fanservice comedies, Golden Boy is one of my favorite ever. But this was just flat out stupid. There isn't a better word. The jokes were stupid, the eleven year old with cup size EE boobs and eyebrows as thick as my forearms, was stupid, the random bear that just stood in the background throughout the whole thing was....stupid.
When it came down to the fanservice there were a few moments that were nice. The sucking of phallic shaped foods, a yogurt slide (this was the one thing that actually sounded fun) and Yuriko's crotch ...

People, Golden Boy is a gem. This is the most hilarious anime ever. For those of you who have had the misfortune of watching animes like Eiken or Ah My Buddha please don't be dismayed from trying this one. Kintaro is the free spirited pervert in all of us. And this is face wrenching perversion at its finest. I mean any one can peek in on some nude girls in the shower but how many of us have the abysmal disregard for social norms that it takes to lick a toilet seat still warm from cheeks of your 'queen'!

NO! No, No, No, noooooo. Do not watch this. When people say they watched something that just wasted their time, this is how you will feel. Like you have literally had the physical embodiment of time ripped out of your soul. This was so awful. The violence. For many of us, violence is one of the reasons we watch anime.
