Sorry, I'm not really into manga... I only read Hunter x Hunter because I was flipping dying to know what happened after the Greed Island Final OVA ended.
Look at my wonderful Anime List, its sexy looking :)

My policy on Animes:
Slice-of-Lifes are for those without one, and are no replacement for them...
My mind seems to have the same mindset for sport animes too.

You should watch it one time..
I think it's around 20 to 30 episode.It's really good.Please try it.You'll know what I'm talking about.The story line is weel made and you'll never get bored i think LOL..

I also like Hunter x hunter...It's cool and very good.One of the few anime I enjoyed and can't get enough of.
But One Piece is also as good as Hunter x Hunter for me.I mean i watch it before and I think it sucks so I stopped but when I continue watching and reach the Arabasta arc its so good.
I think you just have to watch it first true the art was not top of the line but its really good in its own way.
Hunter X hunter is about friendship and adventure right?Same as One Piece.

So sorry for wasting your time with the comment on the One Piece review. (since you got a lot of comments, as I can see. xD)
I just wanted to point out a few things, hope I'm not a bother. :\
As for the story, no wonder you rated it with 1 if you watched only 15 episodes. You would find the series probably a lot more interesting if you watched more. The real fun actually starts when they enter the Grand Line. As for 'moronic' fruits... well, they're supposed to be silly I guess, but since I don't know what exactly you mean, never mind. ^^'
As for the Art, I honestly respect your opinion, since I had a hard time getting used to it I must confess. It is unique, but a bit weird as well. Actually I didn't like it much in the beginning either. :D But they made a lot of progress in the anime.
What I don't understand is why don't you like the music? This anime probably has the best soundtrack I've ever heard. (my personal opinion.) Probably because it is classical.
btw, I quote: "a shining ray of light in One Piece". It just caught my eye, since one of the OPs or ENDs ( I don't remember lol) was called 'the shining ray'. :)
The characters are as well my favorite 'section', if I may say it like that, although you do have a point about them being exaggerated. Sometimes they do take it over board, but they are certainly not idiotic. I don't pretty much have any favorites just because I love them all, heehee. ^^'
As for the ratings, I personally don't even look at them much. I mean, before I even glanced at One Piece, I thought it was some trashy stupidity.
And I honestly don't understand the 'over rated' thing. If someone likes the anime, they'll give it a high mark. What is over rating about that? I mean, it's not the matter of over rating, it's the matter of taste, and One Piece is obviously enjoyable for many tastes.
btw, I didn't know about the 80+ episode requirement, God that's stupid! :\

There are quite a few quotes I could give from your review to explain my comment about disdain and lack of humility. Here are a few:
"Special Note to all fans: noses do not stick out THAT far, thats what the downstairs of a male is supposed to do........."
"I'm ready for the large number of "Not Helpful" ratings I will get from the avid fans who are in denial about all the truthful things I blatantly pointed out"
On another note, it is unfortunate that you did not watch this show any further before calling it mediocre. The themes that are explored are far from silly. For instance: The value of historical records and the danger of revisonism, the comparison of the evils of dictatorship and monarchy, the right to the land and the causes and effects of colonialism, the dangers of an overwhelming state police,the causes and purposes od organized crime, the difference between acts of love or courage and acts of sacrifice, the meaning of a struggle, the causes and consequences of racial discrimination, women's rights, etc...
This show was intended for teens and I rated it with that in mind. As far as popular shows go I think this is quite deep. Above all it is an honest work, with many flaws certainly, but, in my opinion, less so than other equally popular shounen series.
Anyway, like I said before, I made a comment on your page not because I disliked your review but because I thought negative aspects of it reduced its value.
I'll say it again, it is a good thing to have different opinions and I hope you will keep writing reviews.
Oh, I just realised you were implying that my having watched 370+ episodes is illegal and an insult to the makers of the show. I would have preferred if you said it straight instead of hinting at it, once again, to sound less insulting.
Edit: I had, at first, written a long explanation as to how I had been able to legally watch so many shows without causing disrespect or commercial loss to the author and producers but then I realised that the best answer to an unfounded accusation was to ignore it. I will not modify what I wrote before but I shall only add that I am very disappointed by your tone.

Hmm, I 've just read your review on One Piece and though you do seem to have some valid arguments, what transpires mostly is your disdain towards both the makers of the show and those who appreciate it. It's too bad really because your review could have been a very good one if you weren't basically denying the possibility of your being wrong.
I hope that next time you write a review, you will show some respect for those who appreciate the show and try to dial down the ego. Your opinion is not necessarily right (or wrong :) ).
One last thing, about your criticism of the art in the show. Had you criticized the technical aspects alone (like animation, color, etc...) or even criticized the representation from an ethical point of view, I would have said nothing. Unfortunately, however, you criticize the style of the drawings which, well, is not very useful because taste is something personal, meaning that there are no universal laws defining which type of drawing is good or not. Saying that you don' like the stylet is fine (of course) but trying to convince everyone that the style is bad is pointless and unjustifiable (and if said agressively, even insulting).
Anyway, I always appreciate it when people express diverging opinions as it gives fresh ideas and points of view. I hope that in the future you will continue to write reviews, though, hopefully with a little less anger and more humility.

Indeed, I understand. I've also tried some highly ranked series that I disliked, such as Clannad. I dare not say that in front of its fanboys though, haha.
Your expectations about the beginning of One Piece were way too high, I believe, considering that it is not a 26- or 52-episode series such as Gurren Lagann or Code Geass, and that it started airing almost ten years ago, in 1999. Seeing that you like various other long, old series, I'm surprised you went in expecting so much from the very beginning.
I just would like to add that One Piece's high rank is not unfounded. Every great thing said about it is true. Maybe someday you'll give it another chance with a more open mind. :)

Hello, just a comment on your review of One Piece. Even as someone who shares two of your favorite animes, Hunter X Hunter and Code Geass, I'm not surprised about your point of view about One Piece - what does surprise me is the actual score. Seriously, a 1? Even if I hate a particular anime, I don't think I would go as far as to give it the lowest score ever - I don't believe anything deserves such score. Only fanboys go about giving 1's to piss people off, but I don't see you're one.
As for your point of view, again, I'm not surprised, since I thought mostly the same at around the episode you stopped watching. It is not until episode 19 (where the next arc starts) and up where I really got into it - that arc's story is just beautiful, in my opinion of course. The problem I see by the way you reviewed the series is that you expected a mind-blowing experience from the very beginning, considering all the 10's given to it. However, this is not a series that started off particularly strong. Hey, even Hunter X Hunter didn't start off explosively - I've had trouble getting friends to keep watching it at the beginning, but we all know how awesome it gets later on. One Piece can relate.
In any case, I'm not even going to say "give it another chance," since I noticed you loathed almost everything about the series. It's a shame, really, as I believe you quit way too soon. But as heat_guy_jk said, it is your opinion, and to each his own.

i would say that you have not watched quite enough of it yet. You have to give it until the arlong park arc, and then it just pumps into high gear after that. I think episode 37 or something is the clincher episode that won me over. plus the animation ends up getting quite a bit better later on. i see that Hitman Reborn is one of your faves and I just could not get into that series at all, but it would appear we have similar taste in anime otherwise.
