I came into this anime blind; not having any idea about the novel or manga. That being said, Housekishou confused the hell out of me! (lol) At first I thought it was going to be an episodic-type detective show with each episode being about a different case, but things started going awry when the episodes turned out to be more of uncovering customers' personal drama, with each jewel having a symbolic significance, rather than being a part of a mystery or crime. This manga is, obviously, BL. Therefore I enjoyed it.
But seriously, Abiru Junjou is a better-than-your-average BL manga centered on Yuka, a guy who seems to mysteriously attract other guys, thus inviting merciless bullying from jealous girls. The other half of this story is Gotou-sensei, a womanizer who captures Yuka's attentions. In the beginning, it's hard to sympathize with either of the main characters, as they're sort of... strange. Yuka especially. But once their issues are elaborated on, you get pulled into their characters. The story gets more interesting as you go on, involving Yuka's missing parents, as well as the biggest reason for his bullying. You ... |
