Blue Exorcist was an unoriginal yet great anime that definitely had it's good and bad moments. Blue Exorcist can be faulted for it's unoriginal, demon based story which did change it's pacing a lot throughout the entirety of the anime. The story centers around your typical protagonist, rebel frowned upon hero Rin Okurmura training to become a demon exorcist. The story telling eventhough can be seen as 'rushed' is explained and detailed well making it an enticing yet easy to understand plot. It has certain sparks which makes it incredibly unique and inviting but can still include your typical anime clichés

Certain parts of the anime ... can get a little underwhelming. The plot build up is great but the action behind the show is slow not having proper action and full on demon slaying till about halfway into the show, which can be confusing as this is labelled as a high action anime. The beginning of Blue Exorcist is well structured and well written highlighting key story elements, it's a pretty easy show to understand even with it having 25 episodes, but also some fights and scenes are rushed which is why I can't give the show a 10 out of 10.

I would also have to comment on the vast amount of characters in the show but the character mark is where the anime can either be portrayed well because of set characters or the anime can go downhill because of characters who can be labeled as annoying or typical. I did enjoy the different amounts of characters and personalities in the show. There was a sense of passion and motivation with characters but also alot of characters had different traits which made them more loveable and made the anime stronger.

The art and sound were good. The openings and endings are strong and fit the tone well for the show, eventhough background music could be boring and plain at times, if something funny was happening they'd have the perfect backing track to suit that or if any action was going on and so fourth. Sadly as much as this anime is colourful the art can be lazy and inconsistent with certain scenes more than others but most episodes, character designs and backgrounds were good quality.

I think if your into a good action anime with alot of plot twists and adventure then this is a great anime and a good stepping stone and good throwback to mark out everyone's one preferences and enjoyabilities.

Sword art online is definitely an anime I have mixed feelings about. Since SAO was my first ever anime when i read the plot I was hooked already, it's not until years later I realised it wasn't as good as I remember it.
When you first dive into the plot of SAO it does entice you. Thousands of people trapped in a virtual reality game. only way out is to beat each 100 floors of the game. If you die in the game you die in real life-a good, dark and tragic concept. For the first couple of episodes it does well introducing main protagonist ... Kirito and sets up good world introduction and stakes which gives us great tension.

Sadly, after these beautifully constructed episodes the rest of the story ended up being rushed, with pacing all over the place and Kirito meeting new girls every episode, these interactions cleared a path into the cliché harem which ended up taking away the seriousness and dire situation of the plot. The episodes are poorly paced with bad focus going to dark elements to happy elements of the show.

What I will say about the show is the visuals and sound are good, they did well with world building and combat scenes. Cities, guilds, waters and the skies are created beautifully which puts a vast contrast with the dark potential theme of the show. The music in the show is also well balanced having peaceful background music to tense battle music.

Was SAO horrible? No. Would I recommend this? Maybe. there are some good elements of the show that were great, yet I can only give it a 6/10 due to it's delivery. The synopsis set out great protentional yet it didn't deliver it left me disappointed.
