Story: 8/10
For a 46 minute long film, Kotonoha no Niwa has a simple storyline that is easy to follow. The narrative uses the 'show, not tell' method effectively. For example, when revealing Takao Akizuki's dreams on being a shoemaker, instead of him voicing out his dream, he was portrayed to be sketching shoe designs in the garden at Shinjuku Gyoen. There were many motifs explored in the film, such as rain and shoes. However, I won't be discussing that in detail because it includes spoilers. One downside to the story would be that the lack of completion. While the ending was not as rushed and
...
emotional as 5 centimetres per second, it does not feel complete.
Art: 9/10
As expected of a Makoto Shinkai film, the visual appeal is strong. The art style of Kotonoha no Niwa utilises a mixture of reality and impressionism, producing beautiful scenery that seemed real. The colours and tone was beautifully done.
Sound: 9/10
Music-wise, Kotonoha no Niwa utilises classical music, apart from a song with vocals towards the end of the movie. The songs were well-picked and were able to convey the strong emotions felt by the characters.
Let's move on to voice-acting, something that I think that many reviewers hardly address. The voice actor for Yukari, Hanazawa Kana, was able to express a large range of emotions experienced by the character. Irino Miyu, the voice of Takao, did a great job voice acting as the lead. While many seiyuus can easily portray a 15-year-old boy, very few could express the anguish and raw emotions felt by Takao at the end of the movie. Irino Miyu is one of those seiyuus. Kudos to the voice-acting!
Character: 7/10
Now, this was what I thought to be the worst aspect of the movie. Emphasis was placed on Yukari and Takao, leaving the remaining characters as stock characters. Even on the main characters, character development is limited. Characterisation was mildly predictable.
Enjoyment: 8/10
I had enjoyed this movie very much because of its visual and auditory appeal. The brevity of the story made the story easier to understand and I liked the motifs Makoto Shinkai used, like rain being a sign of happiness, contrasting the typical symbolism of rain - sadness.
Overall: 8/10
I'd give this movie a B+/A-. Despite its aesthetic appeal, the film does need some work, especially on the characters. It was an enjoyable movie and for people with shorter attention spans, this movie is just right for you! Kotonoha no Niwa is recommended for teenagers and adults.
I hope you enjoyed reading my review. Have a nice day!

Story: 6/10
Yuri!!! On Ice caught my attention, because it was not set in a school. Seeing as most sports anime are set in schools with teenage characters, I found the idea of a cast with a wider range of ages interesting. Yuuri's development was fine and I liked how the production team used the 'unreliable narrator' and let some episodes be in a different character's point of view to flesh out another character. Good job in breaking the stereotypes!
However, I found the plot development and dialogue rushed. Most of the story was 'word-for-word', the production team should've done the dialogue in a 'show
...
not tell' method which I think would have executed the story better. The comedy part is subjective but I found it funny. No offence, but the gay undertones in the show were cringey.
Art: 7/10
For a sports anime, the quality of the animation and art is substandard. Animation was rather inconsistent, for example, some skaters' performances are blurred compared to the major characters. The quality of animation dropped after the first few episodes. The design of the characters were good though.
Sound: 8/10
Music was well done, I liked the skaters' tracks, especially Yuuri's and JJ's, which were very memorable. The sound could have been improved, if they had added more fast-paced tracks to make the atmosphere more intense. For a competitive sports anime, the atmosphere is a little too laidback.
The voice acting section was excellent. All the voice actors are in character and their voices fitted their characters, especially Uchiyama Kouki (Yuri Plisetsky).
Character: 7/10
Katsuki Yuuri is the main protagonist of the show and he is the one undergoing development. His development was done nicely.
Victor Nikiforov has a strong presence in the show and is a relateable character, in my opinion.
Yuri Plisetsky is a unique character and unlike most younger characters in sports anime, he is more matured and very determined. This makes him stand out.
Sadly, the minor characters (especially those who did not end up in the Grand Prix Finals) were one-dimensional characters, who could have been further developed. The only exception to this is Georgi Popovich, who has a backstory behind his program. Maybe we'll be seeing that in the next season.
Enjoyment: 8/10
I had enjoyed the show because of the humour, soundtrack and captivating characters.I'll be looking forward to a season 2, hopefully the later season would focus on the side characters, whom I think deserve more development. I found the show slightly disappointing as I did not find it as 'great' or 'amazing' as most people did.
Overall: 7/10
I think that the show could have much more potential but sadly, most of it is wasted on the story. If you like shonen ai or yaoi, this show is for you.

Haikyuu!! Season 3 is one of the most widely anticipated anime of Fall 2016. This season covers a 5-set match between Karasuno and Shiratorizawa. The good news is that it is only 10 episodes long and can be easily finished within a few days.
Story: 7/10
Haikyuu!! Season 3 is rather different from the previous 2 seasons, in the sense that it does not focus on the duo, Hinata and Kageyama. Instead, the star of the show is Tsukishima Kei, one of Karasuno's middle-blockers. What I like about the story is that the rivalries are well played out and despite that the match was rather predictable
...
(no spoilers), the characters show that nothing comes easy and there is no one team which overpowers the other totally. This season is filled with emotions and epic moments, which is another strong point.
However, the plot has quite a few weaknesses. I didn't like how Ushijima was stupidly overpowered. The show emphasized very strongly on his spiking skills and the fact that he was left-handed, which is something I don't get because I am sure that he is not the only left-handed spiker in Haikyuu!! Also, this season has too much explaining, which is a typical fault in many sports anime. I understand that there should be explanations for the volleyball techniques but the explanations are over-done. It is better to show more and tell less.
Art: 9/10
The art and animation is consistent and is fluid, as expected of Production I.G., the studio which produced Kuroko no Basuke and Shingeki no Kyojin. The art for the opening and ending were excellent.
I liked how the studio uses metaphors to show the team''s feelings and challenges. For example, the scene in the opening where the Karasuno team is in front of a mountain which morphs into an eagle (representing Shiratorizawa) depicts the challenges the team faces. The lighting is darker in this season, compared to the other seasons. This increases the intensity of the matches. Kudos to the animators!
Sound: 9/10
The opening and ending tracks are recycled and have the same theme as the OSTs from previous seasons. Voice-acting is on point in general and the voice-actors did a great job in expressing the characters.
Character: 8/10
As I've emphasiised in the 'Story' section, Kageyama and Hinata do not receive a lot of development in this season. Tsukishima Kei's character development is one of the highlights of this season. From a disinterested player, he had changed into one of the star players who is determined to fight with the team till the end. His character development is indeed impressive and flows nicely over the 10 episodes. Tsukki, you're the real MVP of the season.
Shiratorizawa's introduction is effectively and they are great opponents. The Shiratorizawa team is memorable, especially Tendo Satori the 'Guess Monster'. Overall, the team is not stupidly overpowered, maybe except for Ushijima.
Enjoyment: 10/10
Full of intense action and episodes that leave the viewer hanging, it is no wonder that Haikyuu!! Season 3 is currently the top sports anime on MyAnimeList. I had enjoyed this season very much and every episode had left me hanging on my seat and wanting more.
Overall: 9/10
Haikyuu!! Season 3 wasn't a disappointment and I had certainly enjoyed it. I am looking forward to Season 4, which should be coming out next year. I would highly recommend this to every sports anime fan. However, I would encourage you to watch the previous seasons to get a grasp of the characters.
Thank you for reading this review and I hope you have a nice day!

"The law doesn't protect people. People protect the law. People have always detested evil and sought out a righteous way of living. Their feelings – the accumulation of those peoples feelings – are the law." - Tsunemori Akane, Psycho-Pass
You may or may not agree with me on this review. This review will contain general comments so as to not spoil the anime for those who have not watched it.
Story: 8/10
Psycho-Pass has a good storyline. The dystopian world of Psycho-Pass captivates the viewer and brings them into their world. Although the first few episodes was not very relevant to the plot, the real action comes
...
in when the villain, Makishima Shogo, is introduced. The following arcs are full of action and fit together seamlessly.
One strong point of the story would be the dialogue and quotes, there are many thought-provoking quotes in Psycho-Pass. The dialogue is strong and makes you empathise with the characters.
Although the anime ends well, there are still quite a number of questions that have not been answered.
Art: 8/10
The art is average but the animation of Psycho-Pass is fluid and consists mainly of dark tones, which sets the mood of the anime. What I like about the art would be the animation for the openings, which are full of vivid imagery and foreshadowing. Now that is how you tell a story with animation.
Sound: 9/10
The sound is amazing! I liked the openings and endings, Ling Tosite Sigure and EGOIST did a great job with the openings and endings which fit the atmosphere of the anime. However, there were a few background tracks that did not fit.
Now, moving on to voice acting. The voice actors did an excellent job of bringing their characters out and fleshing their personalities. Kudos to Sakurai Takahiro (Makishima Shogo), Seki Tomokazu (Kougami Shinya) and Hanazawa Kana (Tsunemori Akane) for bringing the characters to life and making me empathise with them through their voices.
Character: 9/10
The Psycho-Pass cast are generally likeable and unforgettable. The number of characters are enough not to make the story way to confusing.
Most people would probably scoff at Tsunemori Akane's character but I disagree. I think Akane is a great heroine of the story. Sure, she may be a crybaby at the start but at least she is realistic. Akane gets great character development and matures to become a brave and badass character at the end. But I think Akane's character development could have been done better if her development was spaced out.
Next, Makishima Shogo. Makishima is an intelligent character and an interesting villain. However, one flaw with Makishima would be the fact that he is somewhat a Gary-Stu. How does he defeat Kougami Shinya in a fight, when Kogami has been practising for a long time? Despite that, he is a likeable villain. Although he is the antagonist of the anime, somehow I wanted to root for him and hoped that the Sibyl System could be abolished. Another flaw with Makishima would be the lack of back-story, which is a pity for a character who had so much potential.
The other characters of Psycho-Pass also have their own character development. Psycho-Pass not only focuses on Akane and Kougami but also shines the spotlight on the other members of Divison 1. The supporting cast are definitely not just one-dimensional characters and I totally empathised with them while watching.
Enjoyment: 10/10
Psycho-Pass is one of the best Sci-Fi anime that I've watched so far. It was certainly one hell of an entertaining ride and full of emotions! I would definitely rewatch Psycho-Pass.
Strengths: Good storyline, thought-provoking dialogue, interesting characters. fluid animation, no one-dimensional characters, full of angst
Weakenesses: A few plot holes, irrelevant first few episodes, somewhat Gary-Stu villain
Overall: 9/10
This show gets a score of 9 (rounded up from 8.8) or an A minus. However, Psycho-Pass is definitely not for the faint-hearted. There will be bloody and disturbing scenes, so I would recommend Psycho-Pass to audiences at least 16 years of age. It is full of angst and if you're into shoujo or hoping for fluffy romance scenes, I would not recommend you to watch this as not to get your hopes to high up.

Story: 4/10
Corpse Party: Tortured Souls has only 4 episodes, each about 30 minutes long. So, as a result, the plot is rushed and many loopholes. So, it would be very confusing for some, especially if they have not seen the game that the anime is based off.
Corpse Party: Tortured Souls is not written well in my opinion, also they have left out a lot of things that the original game had which made the game more appealing. The ending also bothered me a lot, without spoiling the ending, I would say that the ending was horribly cliched and poorly written. There were no plot
...
twists or anything, unlike the original Corpse Party game.
Art: 6/10
Warning: a lot of blood and body parts
The art was fairly well done in my opinion. The character designs were average and there was no character which stood out from the rest. The art has darker tones to it, as expected of a horror anime and it conveys the feeling of hopelessness well. I think that the blood and gore in Corpse Party is overkill. The gore was in such an unrealistic amount that it seems comical. However, the body parts did make me feel uncomfortable, although it was not very detailed. I think if much more detail was put into the body parts, it would have been more horrific.
Sound: 7/10
The OST of Corpse Party: Tortured Souls was fine, the opening and ending were average. The voice acting was memorable. The voice acting left shivers running down my spine, especially the laughs and screams which add on to the horror side of Corpse Party: Tortured Souls.
Characters: 4/10
The characters were generally static characters and rather forgettable, with the exception of Sachiko, whose character was one of the better ones among the cast. Sachiko is downright creepy and her motives and personality did have development.
The other characters were not very interesting and I was rather annoyed at their stupidity, especially Satoshi. But we've got to cut the characters some slack, after all there were only four episodes and how much character development could four episodes provide for the cast?
Enjoyment: 5/10
So, was Corpse Party: Tortured Souls scary?
My answer is not really. It was a lot less scarier than I thought it would be. However, the animation in the first episode did make me uncomfortable. The screaming and laughing contributed to the discomfort I felt watching Corpse Party: Tortured Souls. Sadly, as I watched further, the anime lost its horrific appeal. I did not enjoy it very much, plus the generic characters decreased the enjoyment level. The show was cringey and luckily, I finished it quickly.
Overall: 5/10
Strong points: Art (6/10), Sound (7/10)
Weaknesses: Story (4/10), Character (4/10)
To sum up my review, Corpse Party: Tortured Souls is rated a 5/10. This show was overrated in my opinion and the story and character parts were disappointing. It isn't the best horror anime I've watched but it was certainly one of the goriest. If you're looking for horror anime which actually has character development and a well-written story, then Corpse Party: Tortured Souls isn't really the right anime for you to watch.
If you're planning to watch Corpse Party: Tortured Souls, I suggest that you don't watch it at night and bring along a bucket, if you don't want to have nightmares.
Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed it. Have a nice day!

After hearing lots of great comments of the anime, Zankyou no Terror, I finally had the chance to watch it. However, I was disappointed and realised how much of an overrated show this was.
You may or may not disagree with this review.
Story: 5/10
Zankyou no Terror has a good premise, the first few episodes got me hooked. However, there are many illogical instances.
...
How does a bomb that explodes an entire building cause few casualties? How do people not get suspicious of the two students that stopped attending school after their first day?
Although this is an anime, I think that it should still be logical. The way that the explosions were made were obviously for that 'boom' effect. The investigation were too easy. How the heck does Shibazaki know Greek mythology at the back of his hand? Maybe, if they had played it out and the police took a few wrong turns here and there, the show would have been more interesting.
The show disappointed me even further, with the introduction of Five, the primary antagonist of the show, which I will write about in the 'Character' section.
I'm glad that in this anime, the policemen are not brainless idiots, compared to Sphinx. Well, there was at least one smart guy.
Art: 8/10
Colours and tone were appropriate for all scenes of Zankyou no Terror. I like how the rather dark colours reflect the grimness and sense of isolation in the show.
Sound: 9/10
The soundtrack fits the anime. Intense and fast-paced soundtracks increased the tension and this builds up very nicely to the scenes. The slower paced tunes were powerful and had left a great impact on me. Again, possibly the most redeeming factor in the show. Voice acting was on point.
Character: 4/10
Characters. This was the main reason why I had given the show a poor score. The characters of the show are rather one-dimensional and their goals are not fleshed out in the show.
Nine and Twelve were fine personality-wise. The anime had failed to develop their roles and they were reduced to the roles of two boys who commit terrorist acts. I hoped that the anime would develop Nine and Twelve but it did not.
An example would be Five, the primary antagonist of Zankyou no Terror. Five is a terrible villain and exists to be evil for the sake of being evil. She was another character who was thrown in to foil Nine and Twelve's plans. Five barely serves any purpose and is there to fill in the 'psychotic bitch' role in the story.
Another character whom I would like to discuss would be Lisa Mishima, a character whom I feel very conflicted over. Lisa Mishima is the love interest of Twelve and the girl who messes everything up. With a sad backstory, one cannot help but feel sorry for Lisa. Her personality is barely developed and she is a rather unnecessary character.
I think that the character who was the least one-dimensional would be Shibazaki. He had some character development but his personality needs more work.
Enjoyment: 6/10
The first few episodes were promising. The beginning was decent and drew me into the show, which was different among the many shoujo anime that were common in 2014. However, as I continued watching, I enjoyed it less. The lack of character development and the piss-poor characters was what decreased the enjoyment levels.
Overall: 6/10
Zankyou no Terror was a major disappointment. I would recommend you to watch the first three or so episodes, but after that, things start to go downhill. If you want to watch Zankyou no Terror for the plot and characters like me, you would be greatly disappointed.
To sum up my review,
Strengths: Art (8/10) and Sound (9/10)
Weaknesses: Story (5/10) and Character (4/10)
Hope you found my review helpful. Thank you!

Looking at the ratings for One Punch Man, most may agree that it is probably one of the best animes for Fall 2015 but there are still some who feel that it is over-hyped.
So, here is my review on One Punch Man, which will be kept spoiler-free as possible.
Story: 8/10
One Punch Man is a parody of most shounen anime - where the main protagonist usually gets defeated and trains to become more powerful. But in One Punch Man, Saitama kills his enemies with . . . ONE PUNCH. Poking fun of anime tropes is what makes the story great, despite its rather simple
...
plot. However, it can get rather predictable over time because the viewer would know how the episode would end - the villain getting defeated by Saitama.
Art: 10/10
MADHOUSE strikes again!
The art is amazing and some scenes are so well illustrated, leaving deep impressions on the viewer. The art is suitable for the fast-paced action of the show.
Sound: 9/10
ONE PUUUNCHH!
One Punch Man's opening gets you hyped up for the episode and is really catchy too, I find myself humming the tune of the opening 'The Hero'. Voice actors whom I think did an amazing job would be Aoi Yuuki (Tatsumaki), Yuki Kaji (Sonic) and Ishikawa Kaito (Genos), who brought out their character's personalities.
Character: 9/10
Characters were diverse, with different personalities. Even the villains who appeared for only one or two episodes were unforgettable. The heroes are quirky, from the Gandalf/Dumbledore-like Silverfang to the bratty Tatsumaki. Saitama and Genos are rather unique characters. Although Saitama is the main character, Genos seems to have the 'Protagonist' vibe with his serious nature. Both are opposites - Saitama being a bored, laidback individual and Genos being a more serious character with the quest for revenge. Characters in One Punch Man bring out the story and are one of the factors that I think that make this series so enjoyable.
Enjoyment: 9/10
Despite a few shortcomings, One Punch Man is an enjoyable show to watch and well-presented.
Overall: 9/10
Great show and it never failed to disappoint me. It may seem overrated but it does deserve most of the hype. This is a show which I would definitiely rewatch for the humour.
I'm also hoping for a season 2!

Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi is an overall okay anime, not the greatest but not the worst. Long review ahead and is generally spoiler free.
Story
The story is like your standard highschool romance comedy. But unlike most highschool romance comedies, there is an actual villain - Hitsujikai. His and Ookami Ryouko's past is what makes the show more interesting. Each episode has underlying fairy tale references which are interesting and well executed.
The story does have flaws too. Some of the episodes are quite strong. For example, my favourite episode - Episode 9 where Shirayuki-senpai and Akai Ringo's past is shown is one of the
...
strong points in the story. It adds to Ringo's character and makes her more developed and takes away the impression that she is just Ookami Ryouko's sidekick.
While there are good episodes, there are some episodes that serve no purpose and are a waste of time. Episode 8 was probably one of the worst episodes in my opinion. The two characters - the butler and Chutaro Nezumi were annoying (Chutaro being your stereotypical rich brat and the butler with his weird and crass jokes -__- ) and the whole episode was pointless and I see it as wasted twenty minutes and money to make one dumb episode.
The ending in my opinion was rather unsatisfying. (No spoilers)
Art
The art was okay, not too shabby. I liked the character designs. If you have noticed, the show has references to fairy tales and Japanese folk tales. You can tell from the design of the character. However, I find Morino Ryoushi's design rather bland in comparison to crazier characters such as Majolica le Fay. The animation was consistent throughout.
Sound
The voice actors did a good job with the voicing of the characters and conveyed the emotions of the characters well. The background music consisted of the continuous re-use of the opening, this irritated me. The show is reliant on the narrator. Although it is good to have a narrator who could help make things clearer for the viewer and help them understand the story better, the narration is too much for me because they should give the viewers some space to think instead of having the narrator's voice going on and on.
Character
The main characters are reasonably well developed.
Ookami Ryouko is a strong, manly girl with a tsundere attitude. However, she goes beyond the one-sided tsundere. She has a hidden self that no one really knows and is much softer on the inside. Ookami seems real and I can somewhat reach out to her. I find her relateable, compared to other anime heroines.
The male lead, Morino Ryoushi was probably one of the more dynamic characters. From a quiet boy with a scopophobia (anxiety disorder that is characterized by the fear of being looked at), he transforms into a braver person who is able to stand up for his friends due to his crush on Ookami Ryouko. Both of them make a decent couple in my opinion.
Akai Ringo is Ookami Ryouko's best friend. She seems to be a happy-go-lucky loli character. However, she is not a typical loli and is rather tricky. Kudos to breaking the stereotype!
The supporting cast had a lot of people. Other than the ones part of the Otogi Bank such as Alice and Majolica, the side characters are less memorable and do not leave any impression on me. Some of the characters were plain awful such as the butler or the rich kid from Episode 8. I wished it cut down on fan-service and maybe reduce the number of side characters. As the saying goes, "Too many cooks spoil the broth".
Enjoyment
Ookami-san to Shichinin no Nakama-tachi is not particularly memorable but I would gladly rewatch it just for the laughs. I like the animation and characters the most. Perhaps the show would be better if the plot was improved.
In conclusion, I'll give the show a 7/10. It is not too bad and I recommend it to teenagers. It is light-hearted and sadly, has untapped potential. Although I expected slightly more from the show, I enjoyed watching it overall.
I hope you find my first review useful and have a nice day.
